Hi Guys,
I have a problem regarding the web server. We installed ASP.Net 2.0 and also the ASP.Net AJAX extension 1.0.
But we don't exactly if what's wrong because when we added ajaxtoolkit control into the aspx page the page will produce an error. I tried different work around already but still no luck.
I hope you could help me get out from this error, I'm stuck to this error 2 days already
Please see error message below:

Either the file is not in GAC or in the bin folder (in case of private assemblies)!

Hi,
I am developing a web app using asp.net and C# and I am trying to develop a page that has some control preferably a webgrid, This control will have one column that has a pic in it or something and when the user scrolls over the cells of the column a tooltip or something similar will display info about the row. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Regular tooltips can be set by using the label property in an html element.

Yes, that's right.
(As a side note, title is both a tag and an attribute. )

Hi guys,
I am having problem getting the complete directory path of the file thru FileUpload control.
Is there a property to get the directory path by using the FileUpload control?
Thanks

The FileUpload control uploads a file from a client computer ... there is no call for you - on the server, so to speak - to know the path on their computer that they got it from.
If you want to though, I imagine you can use the .value of the control in JavaScript to perform some client-side scripting - the value should be the full path. (Never actually tried this with 2.0 FileUpload control, but can't see why it shouldn't work.)
On the server you can always use Server.MapPath to get the full physical path of a file. (But an just uploaded file won't have one until you save it somewhere first, of course.)

Hi Fred,
That's a good idea, but I haven't tried it before.
Do you have a sample code on how to do it in ASP.Net?
Thanks in advance

I mean about using .value in javascript. I think you've tried it before in other version. Do you have some idea about how it will be coded?
Can you give me a sample code for that?

Well, the code below will popup an alert with the full path of the file selected - this is on a simple HTML file input box. For a server control (FileUpload) you'll need to add the onchange property in your code behind using the .Attributes.Add method of the control -eg, if your FileUpload control has id="FileUpload1 then you'd use:
FileUpload1.Attributes.Add("onchange", "checkPdf(this)")
should work....
Fred
<head >
<title></title>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function checkPdf(what){
alert(what.value);
}
// -->
</script>
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" name="form1" >
<div>
<input id="File1" type="file" onchange="checkPdf(this)" /></div>
</form>
</body>
</html>

But it is upto the web browser to send. We don't need that anyway. We just need the multipart content and the filename!

I know that Silverlight can access a web service, but what about a WCF service?
I'm currently evaluating Silverlight to see if it might be a good UI fit for our application. We have a WCF service running on a remote server that I need to access. Right now, we have a Windows Forms client that works, but the WCF binding information is specified in an app.config file. Is it possible to include a web.config file with this same information to be able to access the WCF service?
Thanks,
Scott.

Moving from C++ to JavaScript is a slightly painful experience. One thing that I dearly miss is the compile-time checking for typos...
JavaScript
We are creating a fairly great number of HTML/JavaScript-pages in Visual Studio. Now what tools can you good people recommend that will check for of typos? I looked at jslint but that only checks a single file at at time. We need something more advanced. Will maybe Orcas (next VS) be of help?
CSS
We have a lot of style information embedded from the pages we created in VS. Is there some kind of tool that would simplify the task of extracting ALL style information to separate CSS files?
Thanks A Million

When I am stepping through my code, when debugger cursor
reaches the last line "end sub" if I keep on hitting F11,
I am getting this message: " There is no source code
available for the current location." There's also an
option "Show disassembly information" which takes me to
what looks like compiler code. If I hit F5 from the last
line then it doesn't happen.
Why is it happening, how can I stop this. It's a big
inconvenience for me and slows me down.
Thank you for you help
Thanks & Regards,

hi everybody,
can anybody help to retrive image from the database using ajax.

Your real issue is, if the XML coming back from the database, through AJAX, contains the bytes of a bitmap, they will need to be encoded, how expensive will it be to decode them in javascript, and how do you display them ? A better approach is to have your images in your file system, the paths in your database, and have AJAX create IMG tags based on paths passed back.
