Better Uninstall the .net Framework and reinstall it and try again.

I have a print button on my aspx page which prints only a particular <div> section of the page. The javascript for this print is coded in vb.net.
When I click on print and refresh the page, the print button click method is getting called once again. I do not want the button click to respond to the event on every refresh.
How can I do this?
Thank you

Not sure if it explains your situaton, but the answer to the broad question is, if you handle OnClientClick on your button with javascript that returns false, your server click will not occur.

You can add this code to any button
OnClickClick="return false();"
and the click event will never fire. Replacing this with a call to a method that works out if it should postback, and returns true or false, will allow you to control your ASP.NET button from javascript.

On refresh, the page is re submitting the onclick event for print. It opens a dialog:
"The page cannot be refreshed without resending the information.Click retry to send information again. or cancel to return to the page u were trying to view".
On click of both retry or cancel ,the page still runs the code in print click. Can you help me? I tried using return false in onclientclick event.

Ah... OK. Now I see the issue. A refresh will indeed reprocess the postback. Why do you need to do a postback to do printing ? I thought that was done in javascript ?

My guess is that he's using an ASP:Button control for the print button and using the OnClientClick property for the javascript. I think a postback will happen in this instance and that might be what's causing the problem. I'm not sure how that script will affect the postback if you return false; as Christian mentioned.
Maybe if you use
button.Attributes.Add("OnClick","Javascript:PrintMethod();return false;"); instead of the OnClientClick property it will behave differently. I don't have time to test this out right now, but maybe that would work?

If he adds a ClientClick only, then the button should not post back, but if he returns false, it definately would not post back.

isPostBack is a readonly property right? so I am not able to do that.
And actually I am using master page and content pages in my project. One of my content page has a table which needs to be printed on print button click. I have used asp:button control for this.
And in my print_click event in vb, i have written the code like this:
<br />
<br />
Protected Sub btnPrint_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnPrint.Click<br />
<br />
Dim printScript As String = "<script language='javascript'>" & _<br />
"var foo = document.getElementById( 'plansheet' ); var bar = open('about:blank', 'myPopup', 'print'); bar.document.body.innerHTML = foo.innerHTML; bar.print();</script>"<br />
<br />
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "PrintScript", printScript.ToString())<br />
<br />
<br />
End Sub
The 'plansheet' is the id of my html table. This code opens a separate blank page with table alone in it and pops up the print dialog.
When i use/cancel print in this dialog and go back to the original page and when i click F5 or refresh, the print is getting triggered once again and is openeing up the blankpage and printdialog once again.
Hope I am clear in explaining my scenario.
Thank you

Hey guys , I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I thought I cannot place javascript inside a content page as it will not be having a tag. But now, I have used a html button for print and used javascript right below the tag.
This is not triggering the print on refresh!
Thank you one and all for helping me out!
cheers

Hi all,
I would like to extend the delete and edit buttons in my gridview so that in addition to deleting and editing the underlaying data, it will also log the changed data, the date and time of change etc.
Can someone kindly point me the right direction?
Thanks!

Just make the buttons call your own SQL, which does these things in your database.

Hey all,
I'm having this weird problem with an aspx page.
In this page I have 2 dropDownList controls:
_TableDropDown - has items that I entered at design time. the items are: Cities, Titles etc..
_RowsDropDown - filled after _TableDropDown is autoPostBack to server from DB(when selecting Cities of _TableDropDown the _RowsDropDown is filled with YNC, Paris etc.. and when selecting Titles of _TableDropDown the _RowsDropDown is filled with Manager, Developer etc...)
everything is ok until I press the back button.
this is what I did from IE:
1. got the page the first time - the _TableDropDown with Cities and _RowsDropDown with the data from DB.
2. changed the _TableDropDown value to Titles - postback occured and the page got back to me with the right data.
3. press back button - now the _TableDropDown is set with Titles value BUT _RowsDropDown values filled with cities data..
I know that when pressing back button of IE there is NO postback to the server so I guessed it's something with the viewState...
Is someone familier with the problem?
What should I do to get over this?
Thank you very much,
RoyRose

If there is no postback, then viewstate cannot have anything to do with it

There is no postback & it's find with me cause I don't need anything from the server.
All I want is that when I press IE's back button it'll go to the state it was and not to an imposible state!

The way to do this, is to store the value in the URL, and to do a redirect to that URL, on postback. Otherwise, the step where you changed the value of one, but the other was not changed, is a page in IE's history. That's what you're stepping back to.

Hi all,
I followed up a response to another discussion with regards to e-commerce shopping cart solutions. My question is regards to using shopping carts in particular the downloading of software or files once payment is recieved notably though an e-mail. This is common with Software companies who allow the purchase of e-products where no shipping occurs.
The solution I require is as follows.
1/ My client requires a web application which allows customers to select from 10 excel sheets to add to basket
2/ Basket functionality should allow for adding/deleting products i.e. these excel sheets
3/ Checkout option which redirects to Secure area of site through the use of SSL Cert will capture payment details which is authorised through payment merchant/gateway
4/ Once payment is authorised redirect to another page for "success order, you will be sent an e-mail with download instructions, blah blah blah"
5/ Online customer receives e-mail with links to the files to download. They are given two chances to download the file then it becomes locked!
6/ E-mail should also generate invoice to customer in image/pdf format which cc to administrator of site also.
7/ Site should also have a history of orders which can be exported for financial system
Question 1 - Does anyone know of an ASP.NET e-commerce solution that can produce these results
Question 2 - Any code snippets or complete solutions that anyone has come across on any websites
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
All the best,
SAS 25

I develop on XP Pro. I am setting up SSO (single site login). I want to debug my website and authenticate through the main server running on Win2k3. The main server has a domain full domain (www.sample.com). I can authentiate and redirect to my XP Pro site. However, when I check Request.IsAuthenticated it is false. I believe this is because my host header is localhost on my XP Pro box. I have tried setting my host file to be the same domain as the main server. The host file change has no effect. I have also tried setting the host header in IIS. The host header change causes an error "unable to start debugging on web server. the web server could not find the requested resource". I was wondering if someone has figured this out. If so, please let me know.
Thanks.
