Are you using the ReportViewer control to display the report? If so, set the value of its ShowPrintButton property to false.

You can modify the URL to hide all the toolbars.

It depends on the database.
Access : needs a direct url path eg. \\server\share\db.mdb
ODBC: Need a SQL server connection string and a network compliant application
You question is a bit fluffy to answer.

Convert the Picture property to a byte array and save that.

Hey guys I have some reports in SQL Reporting Services that were running in under 1 minute a couple of days ago and now they are taking hours. Its not all reports just some and when I run the individual queries for the reports they each run in between 1 and 6 seconds. Even running them all together takes less than 1 minute in SQL. Nothing has changed on the machine to cause this any ideas on what the problem might be or even how to analyze what the problem might be?
Thanks,
Bryan

Try restarting the Report Server and see if it makes any difference.

No difference at all.

Visual Studio Team System has a performance testing tool for SSRS reports.
If you don't have access to this, all I can suggest is analysing each element of your report to see where the bottleneck is. Are you doing some manipulation of the data in the report after it has been retrieved from the database that might be causing a problem?

The only manipulation that I am doing is in a table I am summing values for a total row. Do you know if Visual Studio Developer edition has those performance tools? How are they accessed? I am great at creating the reports...just ignorant when something like this goes wrong.
Thanks,
Bryan

This article[^] gives you some more information. It is only a feature in Team System though.

Bryan - run the Sql Profiler against your server to see what's going on. This[^] article details what to set up.

I know this q is very elementary but here it goes.
I'm trying to run a subquery on this table to get the name from ReportsTo Column
EmployeeID Name Hired reportsto
1 Ms. Davolio Nancy May 1 1992 2
2 Dr. Fuller Andrew Aug 14 1992 2
3 Ms. Leverling Janet Apr 1 1992 2
4 Mrs. Peacock Margaret May 3 1993 1
This query doesn't seem to work
Select Name, (select name from employees where employeeid = reportsto) as 'ReportsTo' from employees
Please advice

You were close. You need to reference the inital table in the subquery for it to work.
SELECT
Name,
(select name from employees where employeeid = e.reportsto) as 'ReportsTo'
from
employees e
Better set logic (should be faster on large tables):
SELECT
e1.Name,
e2.Name as ReportsTo
FROM
employees e1
LEFT JOIN
employees e2
ON (e1.reportsto = e2.employeeid)

Hi,
I have a table, userprofile(fname, lname, address, hobbies). Hobbies is multiple selection from the list box, which binds data at run time. I want to select multiple hobbies and insert it into one single row. I have a faint idea od using a for loop for this purpose. Can you please help me?
Regards,
Anuradha

What you should really do is normalise your db and have your tables like this
userprofile(UserID, fname,lname,address)
hobbies(UserID, Hobby)
|
|
|
|
|
First of all, thanks you for the prompt reply. I actually thought about this earlier- having a user table and a hobby table and another user_x_hobby table where I can insert the Userid against the HobbyId. But then my question was, what query I could run on this. I am new to .Net/SQL and trying to explore new possibilities.

Anuradha

How do I use WebServices as a datasource for my reports? I see where you create a datasource there's an option for "xml". Has anyone used "WebService" to create a custom dataset data extension, and if so how do you do it?
