Do you have a question ? How do you send this mail ? Is mymailaddress.gmail.com the sender address, or the recipient ?

Two separate questions. Neither of which relate to ASP.NET. The first question should be asked in the .NET forum, the second in the SQL Forum.

How can we restrict access to our http handler to only users who are in a certain page of our site. I mean using a http handler with XmlRequest object in a certain page. invoking the :
xmlHttpObj.open('GET','http://thesite/BT_Start.ashx', true);
in any page other than the one we want should be failed and return nothing .
How can we do this ?

Check the referr property of the request in the handler.

Write an HTTPModule that checks all incoming requests, and if it matches to your criteria, use HTTPContext.RewritePath() method to rewrite path. But I don't think that you can make URL's ex tensionless like what you need.

I have tried that one but the url was not rewritten

Could you explain how you did that ? How you came to know that URL was not rewritten ?

Hi All,
Recently i came here to discuss the issue, how to secure files (pdf), the recomendation was httphandelers, it works absolutely great.But now an new issue has been arrived.
What i did , i registerd ISAPI extension (.pdf) in IIS 6.0,to let process the request to ASP.Net runtime, there i used context.response.transmitfile to send the file to the browser, as client will be viewing file in browser not downloading, but in case when file is bigger than 20 MB ,(file can be upto 100MB), it takes time, obviously it should take.
But when we redirect or request pdf file without registering ISAPI extension, browser starts showing file, means you see instantly first page or few pages while other are downloading, how to achive this kind of performance, and this kind of behaviour, with letting asp.net runtime process the request.
I hope you guys get my question & if any explaination needed please ask.
Note: Same issue with uploading files with .Net uploader control, even after we change machine.config file size attribute, i want suggestion about better performance, when many users are doing both uploading, and viewing files from repository.
Thanks in advance for sharing your wise suggestions with me.
Many Thanks,
Adnan

Hi Friends...
I use the following code to generate random numbers in javascript.Once i get the random numbers,i assign them to textboxes.But i dont need any repeated values in those text boxes.I need some help to avoid those repeated numbers in my text box..i.e to avoid generation of repated numbers in my random generation...
function selectFrom(startValue, endValue)
var ran = new Array();
var i
function selectFrom(startValue, endValue)
{
for( i=1;i<=10;i++)
{
var iChoices = endValue - startValue + 1;
var iNum = Math.floor(Math.random() * iChoices + startValue);
ran[i]=iNum;
}
document.getElementById("txt1").value=ran[1]
document.getElementById("txt2").value=ran[2]
document.getElementById("txt3").value=ran[3]
document.getElementById("txt4").value=ran[4]
document.getElementById("txt5").value=ran[5]
document.getElementById("txt6").value=ran[6]
document.getElementById("txt7").value=ran[7]
document.getElementById("txt8").value=ran[8]
document.getElementById("txt9").value=ran[9]
document.getElementById("txt10").value=ran[10]
}
someone help in this regard as early as possible..

Always the way to do this, is to generate an array of numbers, from 1-x, then keep generating a random number which you use as an index into that array, then remove that value from the array, so the next time x has been reduced by one, the process repeats, and you're randomly choosing from a range of numbers that does not include the one(s) already selected.

Hi,
I'm currently working between two technologies, classic asp and ASP.NET. A file is uploaded to a folder using the classic asp, the asp.net then tries to access this file later on, but I am receiving an "Access denied message" to the file. I know that this is because the file does not have the ASPNET user account added to the security permssions.
I have added the ASPNET user to the folder the file is stored in, and set that any new files inherit the permissions of the parent. Now this works for all the user accounts but the ASPNET user, it just refuses to add the security permission.
Is there an easy way to solve this, or perhaps add a user permission to the file progrmamtically?
Any help much appreciated

First try to access that file by giving permision to everyone in permission propertirs of folder. then if you are able to access then try with specific permissions

Main method in C# should be declared with a Capital 'M' and
Main method should have a "public" access modifer so that the Runtime can access the Method. Check any of this is missing or the main method itself is missing...
