I've heard of the Quadro's but didn't know thats what they did...
I'll take a look at them, thanks.

I don't think all of them do. IIRC it was only 1 or 2 specific models of the dozenish listed. In general the difference between a quadro and a geforce is that the former is optimized for image quality instead of high frame rates.

He said he wanted to do 3D/DX. If it were me, I'd look into using three 8600GS nVidia cards since they're fairly capable, reasonably inexpensive, and readily available.
The Quadro is too expensive and won't really give him any more capability.
Of course, my attitude sucks, so take the above for what it's worth.

Hi,
kindly i need to know:
while using 0804 and AT89c51 series together, which parameters or bandwidths should be matched to achieve non-stop traffic.
whether the difference between component's bandwidth can be solved using some kind of memory???
and do you think i need to learn some more topics regarding my query??

YOu've found the wrong site for questions like this. CP Is more developement under Windows, not custom hardware developement. You'd probably get a (quicker and) better answer on a site specifically dedicated to electronics.
There are a few people around here who do "dabble" in the electronic arts, but the chances of them seeing your post any time soon are not so good.
Google "electronics forums"[^]

Hi,
i have analog voltage ranging -12v to +12. Need to know that
can i use ADC0804 (8-bit) which results in res=0.09v
or 0804 only work for voltages ranging 0-5v.
Also as i have to convert two separate analog inputs, should i use two 0804 for this purpose ? or 0808.
and what should be the sample rate for achieving 10Mhz bandwidth to be transmitted to PC????

If there are two mouses(A,B) pluged in a computer, I wonder how to distinguish A from B.
plz help me

I am confident that it's not possible to determine which mouse produced the input messages from usermode ring-3.
However, it might be possible at ring-0... by implementing a mouse filter driver which connected to \\Device\\PointerClass0 and other pointerclass input devices on the chain. But I can only imagine the chaos when multiple pointer devices are moving at the same time. Sounds a bit difficult even at this level to me.
But if you want to explore, the sample code in the Microsoft DDK at: C:\WINDDK\3790.1830\src\input\moufiltr could be modified to research this idea.

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME IS THERE ANY FREE VERSION OF THE ddK2000/XP? AND IF THERE THEN WHERE TO GET IT?
|
|
|

Did you even bother to try google? The first listing when searching on "windows ddk 2000 xp" led me to the DDK page which directly leads to the "which ddk to use" page which leads directly to the "how to get it" page.
Since I've already down your work for you, here's your answer:
How to Get the Windows Driver Kit and the Windows Logo Kit[^]
The program is free. FYI, the DDK has been rolled into the WDK.
If you insist on not joining the program, less than five minutes of surfing on the MS site found:
DDK - Windows Driver Development Kit[^]
Despite their names, both of these support drivers back to W2K

hi out there,
i don't know if i'm at the right place with my problem, but i will try. i tried weeks ago some times the usb forum (http://www.usb.org/phpbb/index.php) but these nice guys are not activating any new user accounts
ok, is it possible to make an usb keyboard emulation, that means connecting 2 pc over usb or rs232 to usb, one pc has no keyboard and will be feeded with keyboard signals from the other pc over the usb connection... if yes, has any one good hints (internet pages, etc) how to do it?
regards
criss

The key strokes can be captured and injected at the source/destination PCs using global system hooks, but you can't just run a 'USB crossover cable' between them and call it done. You absolutely would need to write device drivers and AFAIK you'd also need a hardware device of some sort in the middle. Sending the data via ethernet would be much easier, and if for some reason the machines don't have ethernet cards and can't have them added you can buy USB to ethernet adaptors.

hm... so such a hardware device is definitively necessary because a direct usb-usb or rs232-usb connection is not possible (electric/hardware/conversion issues)? also if all the device driver stuff is done?

You could use a pair of USB-RS232 adapters and an RS232 cable without needing any to write any drivers and just use standard rs232 code. But be forewarned USB-RS232 adapters have a reputation of both being flaky and only implementing the more common parts of the spec.

hey all. i was wondering if i could get a bit of advice . Im a final year robotics student and i've just had a new idea for my dissitation project, but im not sure if its viable. The part im unsure of would be a custom usb keyboard feeding text into a c++ application.
I have a basic understanding of c++, some asm programming via a 8051 processor and i've just ordered some usb interfacing books, to help me along with creating a driver and bus. I should be able to manage it for a pc, but could the same driver and software work on a pda running windows and usb otg ?(although i know otg bus is diffrent, but back compatible form usb)
As i said i haven't really researched into it yet, so it's just off the top of my head at the moment. Any advice or points to references would be great.
cheers.
Lucas.

according to me you should first understand the device driver for your k/B..
to develop a driver for windows environment you should download Driver Development Kit by Microsoft

Hi,
I am working on VS 2005 on Vista Platform and also have Vista SDK on my system.
All I want is to be able to handle any notification events on my Ethernet Network adapter.
These could be Ethernet Cable Pluged-in, Pluged-out, in each of these cases, an notification has to be sent.
I know that this can be achieved by registering a callback function with that Port/Network adapter ( I get the Port/Adapter info by calling the native API GetAdaptersAddresses( )
Once any event on the adapter occures, the callback function will be invoked and recieve the event for which the callback was called.
Can anybody please tell me as to how do I register/associate an Callback/event handling function with an Adapter using native Vista API's??
Any guidance will be of great help.

No, it doesn't. At least not for the "events" you specified. The functions you're referring to are under the IP Helper section of the API and don't have anything to do with the physical connection of the adapter. They have to do with the TCP/IP stack and it's relation to the adapter.
The events you're talking about come under the System Event Notification Service[^].

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the response.
Is there any code snippet or a sample application that I could
refer to??
|
|

I don't know of any. System Event Notification Services is a pretty obscure API to use. I haven't been able to find any examples.
But, about 3 minutes of research finds hat SENS is installed automatically with every version of Windows after NT4, AND it exposes a COM library you can use in your code.
Start your project and open the Project properties. Click the References tab and in the dialog that shows up, click on the COM tab. Scroll down the list and find the "SENS Events Type Library". Double click on that line to add the reference. You can now use SENS as if it where a normal class in the .NET BCL.
All you have to do is add a class-level Dim to create a SENS object and then create the event handlers.
Dim WithEvents sens As New SensEvents.SENS

If your net card driver supports WMI, then you could write an app that gets the WMI data off the card.
Otherwise, you will need to write a protocol driver. Its not too hard. You then write an app which tells the protocol driver which OID to query (all Network card drivers must suport OIDs. OIDs (look in the DDJ for details) return data such as link speed, media state (cable in or out) tx packets etc etc etc.
Your app then displays the data from that OID. (Actually, WMI is just an extension of the OIDs allowing them to be acessed by user mode apps)
Protocol drivers are pretty easy to write, there are samples in the DDK, if not I can send you some code.
Truth is the subjection of reality to an individuals perception

A sample application or a code snippet will be of great help to understand the way things have to be approached/implemented.
