Hello guys!
Is there any advised method to browse for a folder in C#?
Should I import the SHBrowseForFolder Api or is there a more convenient and .NET only way?
Cheers

Yes
But Rama has already done all the hard work for you.

How do I convert a byte to it's numeral ASCII value?
<pre>
string input;
input = Console.ReadLine();
Byte[] byteIn = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(input);
int i = 0;
while(i < byteIn.Length)
{
Console.WriteLine(byteIn[i]);
i++;
}
</pre>
That will take the input and print the ascii values (in numeral form) to the console, I want to convert the byte value to a int so I can export it in a certain way.
Thanks.

Simply cast it to an integer.
for example:
// A Byte
Byte b = 128;
// Change the byte into an int
int value = (int)b;
if (value==128) Console.WriteLine("Yay!");

replace above with :
Console.WriteLine("the ascii decimal value is : {0}",(int)byteIn[i]);

(sorry, but I've had this posted on the IDE forum for a week now, and no luck!)
I created a deployment project and have a shortcut to the EXE to which I specified arguments in the shortcut properties. They don't appear in the shortcut when I install the project. In fact, the shortcut is of some wierd type, and I can't even edit it!
What's going on?
Sorry for posting this here, but I really need this to work!
Where should I post questions for deployment projects anyways?

I understand the issue I think...
What you need to do is in the deployment application assign a application as a file to the main folder. (granted it will be there anyways) but by you applying this builded executable it will create a assembly reference. Then from the assembly reference you right click and create shortcut to the application.
Now the shortcut files you create place them in the designated folders.
After the install or deployment is complete, the shortcuts will work. However you will not be able to edit them in any way. But at least they will work.

This is brilliant.
Is anyone actually using it?
Looks like the client code is pretty complex too.

It is pretty complex, but read through the HTML docs several hundred times and "play" with various combinations It takes long, but once you get how it works, it sticks and wow it looks nice

Thanks, Leppie, will do that.
Out of interest, how's the usable of dockable windows for non-tech. users?
I have a small-scale commercial app. and was initially thinking of using these, but then realised that the users just wouldn't benefit from it.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Simon

With the new auto hide property i can allmost create infinite workspace, just like the VS IDE. I have used this in an IRC client i'm busy writing. I used the dockable widows as a replacement for MDI (never got far enough to make it work, dont have to bother now). These have been used in conjuntion with the tabcontrol also in the library.
So death to MDI , hello Dockable windows.
I must however say that the "demos" included, dont really do justice to the power of dockable windows. Nice feature is how u can drag the dockable windows out of the application to the desktop. Only a small problem there that dragged out windows dont seem to retain the parent forms transparency when on the desktop, but are transparent when docked inside. It would be nice to be able to set individual transparency properties or make them inherite from parent form.
Hope this is a bit more informative.
Cheers

Good take on the whole MDI vs dockable thing.
Thanks, leppie.

Very nice!
Two thoughts:
*I need to create a Context which starts as AutoHidden - is this possible?
*When an item is autohidden, the title is not shown - instead there's just a blank square...

Hello Friends,
Can anyone give me the code example of calling C++ dll functions from C#.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rupel,
Thank you for quick reply. I've seen the thread suggested by you and has implemented in the same way.
Basically the function contained within the dll is:
IOAPI bool IsCardInserted(void);
And I have exported this function from IoApi.dll.
So I did in this way :
[DllImport("IoApi.dll")]
private static extern bool IsCardInserted();
But I'm getting "System.DllNotFoundException : Unable to load DLL."
I've placed the 'IoApi.dll' in the same folder from where I'm calling it.
Could u please tell me where I'm going wrong.
Thank you.
Pranoti
