Hi Everyone.
i am working on a office solution, user will click on one button and then open or save file dialog will ask user to save a word file (created using response.write method). here user will save the file as word file on his local system just like downloading a file from the web.
I need to get the selected path where user has saved the file as after saving the file my application needs to reopen it (in invisible mode), and do some find and replace operation.
can any body please tell me how to do this, aslo if possible how to open file from client's system?

I don't know it is best solution or not but you can create a cookie in client machine and store that path in that cookie not whenever you want to open a file read that cookie in javscript ?

thanks for reply sandeep. i think it could be good but still m not able to know how to capture the location of saved file, if can capture then i can go for writing cookie but my problem is to capture that path itself...
like user clicked on button, file open / save dialog came he saved the file at location D:\\MyFolder, how my application can know saved location is D:\\MyFolder on client machine. is file open dialog have some property or method which can be used to know selected path for saving the file?
waiting for your reply...

Hello,
I am having a DropDownList on my WebForm.
I am creating Datagrid at runtime in the page_load and adding Template Column (CheckBox) to it at Runtime as
Public Class DynamicItemTemplate Implements ITemplate
// Then Instantiate In
Public Overridable Overloads Sub InstantiateIn(ByVal container As Control) Implements ITemplate.InstantiateIn
// Code for creating the CheckBox
End Sub
I want to access the selected value in the DropDownList(Not a part of Datagrid) within InstantiateIn...
How can I???

HI
I was wondering if anyine could give me any advice on improving image loading speed
I have an asp application which speaks to a mysql backend, which holds server locations of images which have been added to the application
when i pull the images into a grid they load very slowly and u can initially watch them physically download onto ur screen.
I was reading about possibly caching these images to help with loading, and another place i seen that u can load the images into another asp page, and link the asp image holder to the page?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it also occasionally causes a server crash as it runs out of memory
cheers

I had similar issue and corrected by compressing the image size. Have you tried this ?

Hi,
When manually binding an SqlDataSource, sorting and paging does not work on the GridView. Is there some kind of settings or code to make the sorting and paging work?
SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand() = sSQL
GridView1.DataSource = SqlDataSource1
GridView1.DataBind()
Note that when the SqlDataSource1 and the GridView is bind at design, the sort and paging work fine.
Thank you.

Greetings satishkumarnk,
You will need to implement the following two events:
1 - PageIndexChanging
<code>
protected void GridView_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
{
GridView.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;
GridView.DataBind();
}
</code>
2 - Sorting
<code>
protected void GridView_Sorting(object sender, GridViewSortEventArgs e)
{
string sqlScript = "Select * From MyTable Order By " + e.SortExpression;
if (e.SortDirection == SortDirection.Ascending)
{
sqlScript += " ASC";
}
else
{
sqlScript += " DESC";
}
GridView.DataBind();
}
</code>
And thats it... Happy implementing!
