If you are running a .NET platform you don't need to have a component deployed by the ISP. One great thing about .NET is the xcopy deployment capability, just drop your component into the bin folder.
If your not using .NET I'm sorry I can't help.

Can anyone explain to me why IIS always start about 10 tftp.exe processes sunday night? Two sundays ago, these processes wanted to access the internet. Of course I told my firewall to say NO. Last sunday tftp wanted me to insert a disk in my cd reader. 
This is starting to piss me off! I rule my machine, not vice versa.

TFTP is not a standard component of IIS. Either a 3rd party program has installed a TFTP program and is misbehaving or you've got yourself a virus.

That's interesting... I just checked my server. In C:\Inetpub\Scripts there were 373 files titled "TFTP####" where "####" are decimal digits. All were read-only, all were empty. TFTP.EXE does exist on this machine, dated the day I installed Win2K, and the system was just scanned for viruses two hours ago, so a virus is unlikely. But I do wonder where these files came from... I've deleted them
I'll let you know if anything breaks...

I know your problem, indeed it's persons from warez teams that use tftp to get file on their machine and send u an ftp server in order to use your pc to stock it some warez stuffs.

Er, nope. All updates have been installed, the AV gets updated daily and a full scan performed. Just in case, though, I ran two specialty tools for Nimda.A and Nimda.E - no infected files found.
I suspect that in my case, the culprit may be spyware installed with the software that came with my video or sound card. I traced it back to the company that makes and sells the crap, but they refuse to tell me which mfrs they've sold it to. It occasionally pops up the JRE in the system tray, and logs packets being sent "somewhere." It's just possible that it is using TFTP for transport, and leaving these little surprises on my machine for me.
It's not really a problem here, but just for giggles I'm going to set ZoneAlarm to block all TFTP packets in both directions and see what program whines about it I don't know of any legitimate service (ie - one I installed and want to run) that depends on TFTP, so there's nothing at risk.

 Its one thing to have one of these things trojanjed on illegal software, you just take that risk. Its quite another when packaged purchased software does that! You might consider persueing legal action
|

Nah... I don't have the time to fight little battles. I've blocked TFTP and so far nothing has complained. I'll just watch and see what happens. If I ever isolate which compnent installed this crap, I'll definitely put them on my list of brands never to buy or recommend, then make sure they (and everyone else I can reach) know the reason why.
