Well, you...
1. take the input that the user has given you.
2. hash the password (because you are using hashed passwords, right?)
3. call a stored procedure that looks up the user and compares the hashed passwords. This will return a true/false back to to the application.
4. If the password is correct you allow them to continue
5. If the password is wrong you repeat the process or exit the application.
If you want more detail on any of this you have to show where you got stuck. If you take a different design descision you have to tell us what that is.

I hope so

I was going to say salted hash, but I figured one-step-at-a-time would be better here.

Oh yes, just in moderation. Then maybe eventually some retna scanners and thumbprint scanners, too ( but that might be overkill )

I suspect that some people think that salted hash refers to seasoning their food.

Hi everyone,
I have a data bound ComboBox control on my form which is initialized as follows:
Database db = Database.Instance;<br />
m_accountsList.DataSource = db.Students.Tables[0];<br />
m_accountsList.DisplayMember = "Name"; <br />
m_accountsList.ValueMember = "ID";
The dataset is edited down the line to insert a new row as follows:
<br />
OleDbDataAdapter adapter = db.CreateAdapterForTable("Students_T");<br />
OleDbCommandBuilder cb = new OleDbCommandBuilder(adapter);<br />
DataRow row = db.Students.Tables[0].NewRow(); <br />
row["Name"] = m_Name.Text.Trim();<br />
db.Students.Tables[0].Rows.Add(row); <br />
adapter.Update(db.Students.GetChanges());<br />
db.Students.AcceptChanges(); <br />
I see my ComboBox get updated as soon as the second code block is executed. However, selecting the newly inserted entry results in an error as the returned SelectedValue property is null (It is supposed to return the ID) of the newly inserted row.
Has anyone else noticed the same thing? Any suggestions on how to fix this would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith

Second block is fine, but you r missing adding "ID" field when u add row explicitly. Selecting new item after adding new row need ID field in ValueMember property wich u r not supplying.
Hav a gud coding.

What is the standard method for communication between .NET apps?
I've been using .NET to talk to a COM Automation Server, which allows me to create objects and get events on those objects.
However, I'd like to replace that COM Server with a .NET application. However, it's not clear to me how two .NET applications share objects, much less raise events between each other.
What's my approach, here?

that is why .NET is best here. CLR can understand every object of .NET, whether both .NET application are develop in C# or C++.NET. So, they can implicitly communicate with one another. Only you hav to do is just to create instance of class and invoke its event/method.

Yeah, just don't do it on anything hooked up to a high-voltage electrical source.

You need to research around and come up with a plan how to get it done.

To be honest, I've never worked with streaming over the net so I cannot really be much help except debugging some code snippet that you might have trouble with. My expertise lies in software development methodologies, databases, and multithreading (just to name a few).
