Many long years ago, I used to play Might & Magic (and Swords of Glass). What are the current first-person RPG's that are similar?
As a dependant question, I haven't had a real game in at least a decade, except my beloved Rogue. My video is whatever comes on the MoBO. How bad will this be?

Oblivion is an excellent 1st person RPG, but the system requirements are pretty hefty so your on board video probably won't suffice.

I think I noticed something (my feeble mind forgets just where) that Oblivion 3 is coming out. If, I were to want to (enter into) Oblivion, I would most likely wish to start with the first of the series.
If correct, do the graphics/system requirements fall down to basic?
I'd rather not invest in graphics card, etc., until I decide I want to pursue some gaming.

Oblivion is Elder Scrolls IV, but the games are nonlinear (just take place in the same world and some references to past games), but you could have trouble finding the first two and a computer that will run them (came out in '94 and '96).

I pre-ordered it a few months ago - it's being shipped to mine as I type. I am wondering if I made a mistake though, I wasn't a huge fan anyway - but recently I completed Bioshock - that game is a bloody opera with guns, its an amazing game. Very deep story line, lots of twists, new takes on the fps genre.... so now I am thinking unless the storymode-online-coop is amazing, I am just going to be dissapointed.
Ahh well.

Got to say I found Halo 1 and Halo 2 disappointing. It lacked visceral impact and played like an arcade shooter. The only time it was fun was with a buddy in split screen and then only because you spend more time laughing your head off than actually playing.
I prefer the solid feeling of Half Life or Quake. Those games have a real heft to them when a shotgun goes off. They also feel more precise. One comment I made to a Halo-fan friend once was "Is this planet on half-gravity?" It felt "floaty", especially when in the vehicles. It reminded me of what I didn't like about Unreal Tournament, that lack of impact.
But hey. Different strokes for different folks.

Will be when I get a XBox 360, which is after I get ADSL (still waiting 6 months+ for Australia's lame excuse for a telco) and after they drop the console price a bit...no point paying more than you have to for a shoddy piece of hardware! At least the 3 year warranty eases the pain.

Much, MUCH later. Why? I don't like installing recent games on my PC, with all the messed up protection and all. So, I'll be getting it for the XBox360. But I don't have that either. I loved the first two Halo's (played on friend's xbox), and really want to play this one. So, basically I will definitely be getting it, but for the 360, and not in the nearest future.

Because I need a new PC that is Vista compatible.
Because I need a Dx10 high power VGA card
