Yeh this is the best way to do it, i'd preserve the original numbers in one list, then create an identical list and use this for your selection process. You would be getting a number between 0 and the list's count - 1.

Hi
I was wondering how to get scores to a game I am doing and it has to telly-up. For example a Space game, for every hit I make on my target, the scores will add up. This has to done in VB.Net.

The fact that you're asking this, makes me doubt you're able to write any game. I suggest buying a VB.NET book and working through it before starting your magnum opus.
In any programming language, values are stored in variables. Declare an integer variable, and when you hit your target, add the right number of points to that value.
Or, did I misunderstand the question ?

On this stage what you'd like to do is to add timer control to your form, keep interval to whatever you like.. and put code in timer
if bullet.position = object.position then add point 'this is not actual code.
and as Christian said you need to learn atleast each controls of Visual Basic.
If you have any further question feel free to ask me.

Hello,
I have a vista home premium system and I have installed VB 2005 on it. Installation went fine, No errors. But when I tried to create a project I got a popup "Strong Name Validation Failed for assembly Microsoft.VisualStudio. Please advise how to get around this issue. Thanks for your time and help in advance.

The strong name validation failure might be caused by a corrupted installation. Try uninstalling and re-installing Visual Studio 2005.
If that fails again with the same message, you can try going through this[^] as a last resort.

Hi Dave, Thanks for responding to my query. I tried repairing my Visual Studio 2005 installation but it pops out the same error. Must now try uninstalling and re-installing Visual Studio 2005. But initially when i installed the Visual Studio, i had to install the Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2005 and Service Pack 1 update for Vista. I think i must uninstall those two Service Packs before uninstalling Visual Studio 2005. If yes, what is the order to follow while uninstalling/installing the Visual Studio, Service Pack 1 and Service Pack Update for Vista?

You uninstall the same in the reverse order that you installed it. Last installed get uninstalled first.
Reinstalling, it's VS2005, SP1, then the Vista update.

Will upgrading to Vista Ultimate make any difference? Right now, i'm having Vista Home Premium. If i upgrade to Vista Ultimate, will there be a need to install SP1 for Visual Studio and the SP1 update for Vista?

Yes, you have to install both Service Packs to get it to work.

I want to provide user a connection dialog similar to or same as the Add
Connection Dialog including Advanced Properties window.
I see something called DDEX but it seems to be geared for third-party add-in. I have tried to follow the section Implementing the connection control in http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms379576(vs.80).aspx#ddexintro_topic2a[^] but I don't see the connection dialog at Step 7.

You could always create your own from scratch. It isn't that difficult to do.

Hi Guys,
Can someone show me how to put a message
in outlook's outbox (Microsoft outlook by the way )
Thanks in advance.

You might want to look into Microsoft Interop for that. I've worked with it in Word and Excel, but not sure about in Outlook. It's worth looking into.

Visual Studio 2003 does not have a progress bar control built into the status bar (like VS 2005 does). What you have to do is to drag and drop a progress bar on top of your status bar, and then either anchor the progress bar control "Left and Bottom", or "Right and Bottom", depending on if you want to show it on the left or right side.

I am not 100% sure on 2003, but with 2005 all you need to do is first insert the status bar. Once inserted, you should be able to click on the status bar and add a progress bar.
