I wish someone would post instructions. I tried out the ASP.NET Web Matrix thingy yesterday and was rewarded by HTTP 500 errors and a BSOD. No clues or decent error messages - just crash and burn. The runtime is installed, the .NET framework is there... nothing works. Grrrr...

I tried it too!
When I opened a HTML page and viewed the code and then watch it in Design mode my table was gone(?)... weird... so I will write the code in Notepad and test the pages with the server that comes with WedMatrix!

You're right!
But one thing: If I install the .NET Runtime and use Apache... do I have ASP.NET support then!?!?

I'm not sure but I think the ASP.NET runtime only installs if IIS is present. It would be nice if MS would let other software run it but then again it is Microsoft.

It would be nice if it ran on just IIS - but it doesn't

All I did is install all IIS updates etc and installed the .NET runtime and it is supposed to automagically install it.

I did the same - installed the latest updates, the runtime, and the tool. I went thru the Hello World tutorial, but skipped the first two steps using the included server stuff and went straight to the IIS-hosted procedure. Every attempt resulted in an internal server error, and a few minutes later while I was trying to post a question in the online forum, it blue-screened on me.
It's just as well for now, as the hosting service I sell doesn't support .NET yet. No rush... It's a nice looking, easy interface, though - I do hope they work the bugs out soon.

Once you get it working it is pretty nice. I hope you figure your troubles out though

Nnamdi,
Do you mean like using the Split method on a string to return an array?
Cheers,

ive sorted it now, i had a look around PHP.net and found that the strtok function did what i was lookin for, if i used it like this:-
$string = "these,are,key,words";
$tok = strtok($string, ",");
while ($tok)
{
echo $tok;
$tok = strtok(",");
}
but thanks for replying to the post.

PHP only has experimental support for XML DOM. The only way I know of is to use standard file create methods.

I use this code to write Server control in ASP.NET:
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter output)
{
output.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Alt,"Heyyyyyy");
output.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Href,
"http://CodeProject.com");
output.AddStyleAttribute(HtmlTextWriterStyle.FontSize,"20");
output.AddStyleAttribute(HtmlTextWriterStyle.Color,"Blue");
output.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.A);
output.Write("This is a link to the Wrox web site");
output.RenderEndTag();
}
But Alt does not appear when mouse goes over the text.So how can I add two attribute?

ok, could you paste the actual final html in a reply so I could take a look?
also, remember that not all browsers support tooltips. what browser are you seeing this behavior in?

Thank you Andy. I change my control a little.I derive it from WebControl instead of Control and then add tooltip to ir and it solved.

Hi Folks..
Im calculating an impt variable called "querystring" in asp_page1.asp..Now if i have to transfer this value to asp_page2.asp
How do i use the response.redirect method..
I have tried response.redirect
1). "asp_page2.asp?querystring"
2). "asp_page2.asp?@querystring"
3)."asp_page2.asp?!querystring"
but none of them worked..How do i pass the value that i get at one page for my variable to the other.

I'm trying not to be too critical but this is such a basic question you really should do some research before looking for help here.

Using JScript:
Response.Redirect("asp_page2.asp?querystring=impt&nextval=impt2");
You could put it into the session too.
