I want to create a control that acts like a FormView. I want to have the ability to have a template arrow which allows me to convert a selected column to a TemplateField. Within that field, iwant tobe able to drag and drop controls into it and use the EVAL("fieldname") method to retreive values.
If you need any more clarifications, please let meknow. Your help is highly appreciated!!

Hello all,
Does anyone know of a good article that shows how to make a custom pager control that isn't tightly coupled to any particular ASP.NET control or to the databinding interfaces? What I need is basically something that allows you to:
1) Tell it the number of pages
2) Have it keep track of the current page, raising events when the page changes.
3) Implement First, Previous, Next, and Last navigation buttons (events should be fired on these as well).
All the tutorials I have been able to find assume that you are using this control along with a datagrid or at least a typical .NET datasource. I'm using NetTiers to return the data, but I'm doing a bit of manipulation to it before rendering, so I need something that just provides the paging UI, but no functionality. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Will

Well I have my own control but it is not in any articale. Here is what I do:
1. I have created four buttons for next, previous, first, last
2. Four mouse over images for the same
3. Four images for disabled buttons
4. Next thing I did was created a div with the following child controls:
a. Label on left side to display Total number of rows in the result set
b. Label iin the center to display Page x of y
c. Four navigation buttons (Asp:imageButton) on right along with a drop down list containing number of pages labeld as Jump To Page.
I use the above control [div] as a separate control on some pages and on some pages I add to the pager control of the gridview.
Now in case of a separate control, after binding the gridview, I show or hide this div depending on the results. And show the right buttons depending on the current page. (first and previous are disabled in case of first page and last and next are disabled in case of last page). I fill the drop down list (Jump To Page) depending on number of pages in the gridview. I also show right text on laebls (total and current page etc.)

No. ASP.NET web applications run on a server and produce HTML pages accessible via a web browser. Windows Forms applications run as executables directly on a client machine. The two application architectures are fundamentally different.
What exactly is the problem you are experiencing? Are you having difficulty developing some functionality in ASP.NET that you can produce more easily in a Windows Forms application? You could consider developing an ASP.NET application that utilizes Ajax. Ajax is an umbrella term for a set of technologies that can be used to develop web applications which more closely resemble a windows application in their look and feel.

You could have a look at this article[^]. However the author does state that developing Windows Forms controls for use in ASP.NET web pages isn't the best way to do things.

Why can't you view the article? It's just a link to another web page. If you can't view the link from the forum then emailing it to you won't make any difference.

You have deleted probably a method asociated to that selecting event on this sqldatasource1. Go to markup view of this page, search sqldatasource1 declaration and delete event onSelecting...

no i mean that i write a web page this page contain as upload control i need som ideas that enable me to save the uploaded file from the other peoples on the internet into the server hard disk

I'm afraid I don't understand your question. What do you mean by 'other peoples'?
If you have a page that includes the ASP.NET FileUpload control, the user has to select a file. When the page is posted back to the server, you can programmatically work with the contents of the posted file.
If your question relates to some other mechanism of file upload, please be more specific about what you want to do.

sorry for my bad language, yes what i want is to programmatically work with the contents of the posted file .
i try to upload some files from my website but when i check the server i didnot find the uploaded file so i assume that the control didnot work

You should post the code you have written so far and identify the section you are experiencing difficulties with. The exact nature of your problem still isn't clear to me.
The FileUpload control provides a means of acquiring a file from a client machine and including its contents in a HTTP server request. What happens to the contents of that file when the server receives the request is entirely up to the discretion of the programmer. As I have already stated, if you want to save the contents of the posted file on the server-side you need to call the SaveAs method of the FileUpload control.

What u can do is use the SaveAs method to save the file to ur db as byte[] or just the filepath+filename.

drag n drop html browse control on your page rght click on it and check the "Run as Server Control" option now drag and drop a button on your form. Lets say the name(ID) of your File control is File1 then on click event of your button write following code
string path=@"C:\Uploaded";//Path where you want to save the uploaded file
File1.PostedFile.SaveAs(path);
You need to give ASPNET account write permissions on that folder where you want to save the file.

for loop
{
ImageButton img = new ImageButton();
img.ImageUrl = "a.gif";
img.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "this.src='" + imgMouseOverURL + "'");
}
Hello, I have an imagebutton instance dynamically generated. The code works fine except the mouse over effect
on the button becomes a big red X everytime my mouse hovers over the image. Does this have something to do with the dynamic generation of my imageButton? On the contrary, if I have an imagebutton available in markup with similar attribute, everything works fine.
Please help.
Thank you.
