Any managed code running from a non-local source (read: any network source, trusted or not) is NOT trusted by default. In order to run code from a network source, you MUST understand Code Access Security[^]. It's a must read for any applicaiton actually, but becomes so much more important when running from an untrusted source.

I thought this question sounds familiar. Asking it again and again and again, won't change the answer[^].

I am trying to take a image and zoom/pan to fit a template (something overlaying the image(and preferably and image itself with transparency)) and then crop what is inside the template area. I have tried using the picturebox control and system.drawing to gain the effect but cannot get it to work for me.
any ideas?

You are doing-
1) Zoom/Pan an image
2) Making an image transparent
3) Crop the image area.
Now could you please clarify in which operation you need help or what is that you are not able to achieve.
This will help us in providing correct suggestion.

zooming and panning is what i need help with. making it transparent i know how now ( a little more playing around did the trick). even a link to something on msdn would be helpful.

Forget the picture box. Draw the image on your form yourself, in your paint event handler. The rest should be easy, if not, ask more specific questions.

Hi, I'm not sure whether this question should be post in asp.net forum or windows vista forum or this this forum. Current I have an old laptop which is running windows xp professional with IIS installation. I used Vs 2005 to develop an asp.net website in my laptop.
Now i plan to purchase a new laptop but it is not windows xp professional. The new laptop that i plan to purchase is windows vista home premium edition. What i want to know is whether windows vista premium edition has an IIS which is support for asp.net development or not? If vista home premium has IIS like winxp pro, then it won't have any problem for me to continue my web application development.
Thank in advance!!!

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Visual Studio 2005 has a built in web server, so you don't need IIS to develop.

Why would you post this question in the VB forum when it is in no way related to VB?
Anyway, the answer to your question is yes. You can install IIS 7 by changing the Windows components in Control Panel.

Because I used to write asp.net in vb.

You didn't state this in your original post. Anyway, the VB forum is for questions that specifically relate to VB(.NET). Your question was of a more general nature; it would have been more appropriate to have asked it in the ASP.NET or General Discussion forums. Posting your question in the right forum will greatly increase its chance of being answered.

Guffa, right. VS2005 comes with a mini web server already, so you really don't need IIS. The only thing you would need it for is if your using IIS specific features.
But, the other poster is also correct. It doesn't matter what language you write your ASP.NET app in, it's STILL an ASP.NET app and should have been posted in that forum. The actualy language has very little to do with just about any ASP.NET question.

Hi
How can I set the font size of a control dynamically e.g. label. The problem is that the font size property is readonly.
Thanks
reman

you have to assign a new font to the font (not entirly shure) property:
dim f as new font ("Arial",12,...)
label.font = f
hope this helps
If my help was helpfull let me know, if not let me know why.
The only way we learn is by making mistakes.

You can easily change the Font Size,Style,Family by using any of the following code:
Dim fdlg As New FontDialog()
If fdlg.ShowDialog = DialogResult.OK Then
Me.Label1.Font = fdlg.Font
End If
Alternatively you can change the font by using this code:
Dim _font As New Font("verdana", 24, FontStyle.Italic)
Me.Label1.Font = _font
Hope it helps.

please try following code for increase font size (Label)
Me.Label1.Font = New System.Drawing.Font("arial", 11.25!, System.Drawing.FontStyle.Regular, System.Drawing.GraphicsUnit.Point, CType(0, Byte))
Me.Label1.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(208, 24)
Me.Label1.Text = "Label Font Size Change"

You can do this by Remoting.

First, are you in control of the source code for the VB app that's receiving this value?? Is it VB6 or VB.NET??

First you have to learn how to give your posts intelligent titles. Read forum guideline no.3. 'reports' doesn't give anyone a clear enough idea what the nature of your question is.
Secondly, you need to research different reporting tools e.g. Crystal Reports, SSRS etc. and decide if any of them meet your needs. The tools I have mentioned can both be embedded within a Windows application.
If existing reporting tools do not meet your needs, then you could consider writing your own.

I am trying to write an object whose purpose is to act as a Generic Event Handler. This object has two methods. Register, and Listener
- The first is called Register(inWebControl, inSubscriber). This takes in a WebControl and creates a Dynamic Method to handle specific Events. This Dynamic Method calls the second method.
//basically just call another generic handler -
//Note the Web Controls are eitehr home-grown or 3rd Party or .Net
//all with different Arg Types
- The second method is a Sub that takes a KeyValue as String (generated in the Dynamic Method) the Sender of the Event, and the specific EventArgs Object.
My Code...
Public Class EventManager<br />
<br />
<br />
Public Sub Register(inWebControl as WebControl, inSubscriber as SubscribingObject)<br />
<br />
<br />
Public Shared Sub Listener(inKey As String, Sender As Object, ParamArray Args() As Object)<br />
<br />
End Class
I've seen other examples of this in the C# arena, which I have been able to glean as much as possible to get it to half-way work. I really need some help though in the following areas and specifically how do some of this in VB.net
1. The code below works as long as the Object and method is Shared (Static) , but I would really like to make it work as an instance method.
2. The EventListener method is firing and I get the Key and the Sender , but never get the Arguments .
With all that said -(hopefully enough to trigger help ). Here is the current code that I have that works (and a brief statement of what I "think" is happening).
Public Sub Register(ByVal inControl As WebControl, ByVal inSubscriber As clsWebBinder)
// The Key is what I use to determine who the Subscriber is
Dim Key As String = inSubscriber.Key<br />
Dim BindType As System.Type
//First Generate a Type - I've generated a Module in Memory and now somewhat realize I don't
//need the module or this type, I can just create a dynamic method - but still don't have the
//big picture yet.
Dim m_EventInfo As EventInfo = inControl.GetType.GetEvent(inSubscriber.TargetEventName)
//This is determining the parameters and the data necessary to create the dynamic event
//handling method. Is there a way to debug a dynamic method?
Dim InvokeMethod As MethodInfo = m_EventInfo.EventHandlerType.GetMethod("Invoke")<br />
Dim parms As ParameterInfo() = InvokeMethod.GetParameters()<br />
Dim ParmTypes(parms.Length - 1) As Type<br />
Dim i As Integer<br />
For i = 0 To parms.Length - 1<br />
<br />
ParmTypes(i) = parms(i).ParameterType<br />
<br />
Next i<br />
<br />
Dim tB As TypeBuilder = MyModule.DefineType(Key, TypeAttributes.Class Or TypeAttributes.Public)
//Now I create the Dynamic Method on that Type
//I realize this next section is setup for Static, but it is the only way I know to
// make it work... I really don't have a good understanding of what is going on here
// and couldn't really find any decent help (in vB)
Dim handler As MethodBuilder = tB.DefineMethod("DynamicHandler", MethodAttributes.Public Or MethodAttributes.Static, InvokeMethod.ReturnType, ParmTypes)<br />
<br />
Dim iLG As ILGenerator = handler.GetILGenerator()
//this Emit method loads my Key as the String Value
iLG.Emit(OpCodes.Ldstr, inSubscriber.Key)
//I think this loads the Sender?
iLG.Emit(OpCodes.Ldarg_0)
//I'm not sure what this loads (perhaps the Sender as well?)
iLG.Emit(OpCodes.Ldarg_1)
//I've tried adding a Ldarg_2 to get the arguments, but I get the "Invalid Program" error.
//This executes the Call to Listener and then exits the method
iLG.Emit(OpCodes.Call, Me.GetType().GetMethod("Listener"))<br />
iLG.Emit(OpCodes.Ret)
// This generates the Actual Method and Type in the Dynamic Module
BindType = tB.CreateType
// Now I create a Delegate and Add a Handler
Dim EventHandler As MethodInfo = BindType.GetMethod("DynamicHandler")<br />
Dim dM As [Delegate] = [Delegate].CreateDelegate(m_EventInfo.EventHandlerType, EventHandler)<br />
<br />
m_EventInfo.AddEventHandler(inControl, dM)<br />
<br />
End Sub
Any HELP would be greately appreciated!
