If everything was installed correctly, the assemblies should have been installed in the GAC and would show up under the .NET tab of the "Add References" dialog. (It's been a while since I've had this installed, but I'm pretty sure that's what will happen.)
The SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition runtime doesn't require the Compact Framework anymore.
Just to be sure, you downloaded from here, right? http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/compact/downloads.mspx[^]

Hi!
You asked the very same question two days ago and didn't get a single answer, probably because no-one understood what you want to achieve.
Try rephrasing and describing in more detail what you want to do.
"application in c# for blocking" - what's that supposed to mean?

Hello all, I'd like to write an IM client like Trillian, but i have no idea how to process login information. Could anyone tell me how to send username and password of user to chat server (like YM chat server)? Thanks
|

I don't know of any and usually apps that have username/password logins are a secret kept very close to the chest. Good luck in finding an answer

Sorry but i dont understand your answer clearly. I meant that I'd like to know how IM clients process login information of user like Trillian did. (e.g how to login to YM chat server and retrieve friend list of that user etc...)

What I meant is that it might be a very closely guarded secret that they will not release for the sake of security...

I know but i wonder how did Trillian or some websites like Meebo do this?

You would need to look for a developer SDK for the Yahoo! Messenger product. I'm not sure if Yahoo! has one or not, but that would be the place to start.

Hey, thanks. Do you know how to get rid of previous templates already there? (Not to get rid of ones put when installed, but a few gathered ones...)

The user templates should be stored under "My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates". The ones shipped with VS are stored under "VS Install Dir\Common7\IDE". In the ProjectTemplates, SolutionTemplates, and other folders that end in "Templates".
Take care,
Tom

These two are identical in what they mean, and the compiler should generate identical code
for both.

I'm just curious:
Are you sure that both will generate the same code (okay I could check that with some IL disassembling on my own, but you know ...)
I'm not sure because int a; will initialize a to 0 (local variable) already. Therefore, a = 0 will set a a second time.
But maybe the compiler is smart enough
But anyway, my opinion is that int a = 0; is the way to go.

As Luc pointed out, they are identical ways to do the same thing. There is no performance difference between either of them and both will get compiled to the same code.
However, your other example is different:
devidutta Pradhan wrote: classA a=new classA();
a=FunctionXXX();
classA a=FunctionXXX();
actually is somewhat ambiguous unless FunxtionXXX() returns a new instance of classA. If that is the case, then again, they are equivalent.
The different syntax exists mainly to support individual preference. Some developers prefer to always declare the variables and then assign them separately while others prefer to do it all in one step. In either case, the compiler doesn't care how it's done and treats these as the same thing.

|
|
|
|

The second one will create 2 objects, so it is less efficient.
This would be equivalent:
classA a;
a = FunctionXXX();
and
classA a = FunctionXXX();

Hello, I'm new to both C# and sockets. I'm working on a program, that right now only read data from localhost and pass it directly over to a SOCKS-server on another computer.
Im running each connection in a separete thread. Problem is, I need to know when the client and server is done sending data. Right now it goes in a loop which takes up 100% CPU, not too good i guess. How can i tell when the communication is finished?
Also, since it takes up 100% CPU I guess its going through this loop loads of time over and over again, How can i read and write data better?
Appreciate any help or someone that could point me in the right direction.

if (remote.Available > 0)

r = remote.Receive(rbuffer, 0, rbuffer.Length, 0);
client.Send(rbuffer, 0, r, 0);
Console.WriteLine(r);
