Is the deployment machine configured the same as the local machine?

hi,
In my appication i'm using Oracle as a back end. In that when i'm using ExecuteReader() it shows an exception. Can any one of help me to solve this issue.
<br />
oleDBConnection = new OleDbConnection(connectString); <br />
string query = "SELECT V_FIRST_NAME,V_LAST_NAME,V_PHONE_NUMBER,V_EMAIL,V_FAX_NUMBER,V_ADDRESS,V_TITLE,V_POSTAL_CODE,V_COUNTRY from UserDetails where (V_USER_ID = ?) AND (V_PASSWORD = ?)";<br />
<br />
OleDbCommand oledbCmd = new OleDbCommand(query, oleDBConnection);<br />
oledbCmd.CommandText = query;<br />
<br />
oledbCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;<br />
<br />
OleDbParameter par = oledbCmd.Parameters.Add("UserName", OleDbType.VarWChar, 50);<br />
OleDbParameter parm = oledbCmd.Parameters.Add("password", OleDbType.VarWChar, 50);<br />
<br />
oledbCmd.Parameters["UserName"].Value = userName;<br />
oledbCmd.Parameters["password"].Value = password;<br />
<br />
oledbCmd.Connection = oleDBConnection;<br />
<br />
oleDBConnection.Open();<br />
<br />
OleDbDataReader dr ;<br />
dr = oledbCmd.ExecuteReader();<br />
It threw an exception when executing the last line. The exception states that Unspecified error.Oracle error occured,but error message could not retrieved from Oracle.Data Type is not supported.

You add parameters to the query, but you don't specify anywhere these parameters. Try this
string query = "SELECT V_FIRST_NAME,V_LAST_NAME,V_PHONE_NUMBER,V_EMAIL,V_FAX_NUMBER,V_ADDRESS,V_TITLE,V_POSTAL_CODE,V_COUNTRY from UserDetails where (V_USER_ID = @UserName) AND (V_PASSWORD = @password)";
OleDbCommand oledbCmd = new OleDbCommand(query, oleDBConnection);
oledbCmd.CommandText = query;
oledbCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
OleDbParameter par = oledbCmd.Parameters.Add("@UserName", OleDbType.VarWChar, 50);
OleDbParameter parm = oledbCmd.Parameters.Add("@password", OleDbType.VarWChar, 50);
Hope it helps.

we are using oracle not sql server('@symbol is not supported in Oracle').
give me the solution

Ok, my bad. But still, you have to find a way to specify the parameters in the query. I think that that's your problem.

Hi,
I am writing a Windows Forms application.
Is there any method of finding the toolbar button currently under the mouse cursor? It seems that the button objects are not Control (class) derived...

Odds are high that you're asking for help in using a webservice that most of us probably have not heard of. Otherwise, your question makes no sense at all. What do their docs say ? Do they have a support forum ?

Hi
I have a gridview in an aspx page.
The paging is working. But the sorting doesnot..It goes into an infinite loop..
Could you tell me what is going wrong..
Do I need to bind the datagrid after the sort function is called....
I couldn't find a correct answer so far ..
So please let me know the exact problem with this code.
Thank you
The following is the code
<asp:GridView ID="dg" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" AllowSorting="true" AllowPaging="True" OnSorting="dg_Sorting" OnPageIndexChanging="dg_PageIndexChanging" Width="447px">
<columns>
<asp:boundfield datafield="jobid" HeaderText="JOBID" SortExpression="jobid" />
<asp:boundfield datafield="jobpost" headertext="JOB NAME" SortExpression="jobpost" />
<asp:boundfield datafield="description" headertext="DESCRIPTION" SortExpression="description" />
<asp:boundfield datafield="nocondition" headertext="NO: OF CONDITIONS" SortExpression="nocondition" />
</columns>
</asp:GridView>
And I have the code for onSorting=dg_Sorting as follows
public partial class jobdetails : System.Web.UI.Page
{
SqlCommandBuilder c;
SqlDataAdapter da1;
DataSet ds1;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
SqlConnection ctr = new SqlConnection("data source =.\\SQLEXPRESS; initial Catalog=udus;user id=sa;password=pass123");
da1 = new SqlDataAdapter("select* from JOBMASTER", ctr);
ctr.Open();
c = new SqlCommandBuilder(da1);
ds1 = new DataSet();
da1.Fill(ds1, "JOBMASTER");
dg.DataSource = ds1;
dg.DataBind();
}
public void DataBind1()
{
SqlConnection ctr = new SqlConnection("data source =.\\SQLEXPRESS; initial Catalog=udus;user id=sa;password=pass123");
da1 = new SqlDataAdapter("select* from JOBMASTER", ctr);
ctr.Open();
c = new SqlCommandBuilder(da1);
ds1 = new DataSet();
da1.Fill(ds1, "JOBMASTER");
dg.DataSource = ds1;
}
public void dg_Sorting(object sender,GridViewSortEventArgs e)
{
string oldexpression = dg.SortExpression;
string newexpression = e.SortExpression;
if (oldexpression.IndexOf(newexpression) < 0)
{
if (oldexpression.Length > 0)
{
e.SortExpression = newexpression + "," + oldexpression;
}
else
{
e.SortExpression = newexpression;
}
}
else
{
e.SortExpression = oldexpression;
}
SortDirection direction;
direction = SortDirection.Ascending;
dg.Sort(e.SortExpression, direction);
}
protected void dg_PageIndexChanging(object source, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
{
DataBind1();
dg.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;
dg.DataBind();
}
}
