Hi
I'm keen to write a series of articles on SVG, but wanted to see if there was any interest from CPians.
Would you read them?
If so, any suggestions would be great.
Cheers,
Simon

None sorry. No nothing of SVG and my graphincs knowledge fits on the head of a pin. Hence my enthusiasm for your proposed series.

Cool, Michael, thanks for the feedback.
I'll [probably] put something up over the weekend.
How interested would you be in the history of vector graphics for the web as a first article in the series?
Cheers,
Simon

Very, as I said I have bugger all knowledge of graphics (though I have just started GIFs, JPEGs and BMPs) so background would be great.

Hello Michael
So! When are you gonna submit your article?
I think you should. It has several benefits
- It improves your knowledge as you try out various kinds of stuff
- It helps improve your confidence to have a few CP articles to your credit
- Being currently unemployed you are getting out of touch with coding. The article will help stop that
- I dunno if you are bored doing nothing much these days. The articles helps there as well

RSN. Which means Real Soon Now. I want to do it, I know I should do it and it's getting to the time I have to do it.
I am just having problems at the moment reading something let alone produce something. As weak as this sounds it is the case at the moment.
I live with my 2 parents in-law (their place), wife and 2 kids in a smallish 3 bedroom home. Mother In-law had back surgery last week to fuse vertabrae together. 3 weeks ago my wife had surgery of her own. It's also school holidays. So I am finding myself doing a lot more around the house than usual and with both kids home there is constant noise.
I have my computer setup on the dining table which is in the same room as the TV. So I have no where to lock myself away with my work.
On top of that at the moment I have my bank, credit union and car leasing compnay chasing me for money I don't have. I am searching for work, a payout I am owed is overdue so I am down to waiting for my tax rebate.
I know it is not the end of the world but it all seems pretty f***ed up from where I am sitting.
Any idea why I am not getting any emails in response to replies to my posts?

What the heck is a sigmoid function? I saw that phrase in a book on Neural Networks. I'm not a math student or anything.

I think I better refer to "Sigmoid functions for Dummies". I didn't quite get all that.

Now, I think the time has come for me to revolt against your evil design of colouring something in blue when it is not a hyperlink.
I always click on it in the hope that it is just a mistake and someday you will correct it like "the Schrodinger's cat."

Any URL with the word "sphincter" in it will probably cause my proxy logs to be forwarded to God or something, so I'll have to give that one a skip for now.

Like GPFs, IPFs, Access Violations etc.
I can generally find the function the error occurred in from the memory address but there has got to be a way to pinpoint the line of code it happened on.

Does anybody know how and if it is possible to access VS.Net Webforms designer using add-in and change some html code generated by each webcontrol.
For example i want to replace some html codes before it is displayed inside VS.Net.

I want to get a series of bridge hands into the computer. My thought is to make up a form and then have the players write into the character boxes the hands. The card values would be only the characters AKQJT98765432.
Example:
North
Spades A Q T 5
Hearts T 8 7
Diamonds Q T 4 3 2
Clubs 8
and so on... Just the part to the right would be filled in by hand.
My problem is to put together a program that can start the scanner, read in a page, look at the specific boxes where the characters can be entered and then decide which of the above characters is in the box (best match). I've got some leeway here in that all the above characters must be present 4 times (4 suits) so I could throw out a debatable character if it was matched with one of higher quality.
My question here is can anyone suggest where I can look for examples of text recognition software callable from a controlling program. The standard search for text recognition software produces Xerox's Textbridge or Omnipage Pro. These are standalone programs that come out with Word files. I want something more primitive than this so that my program can control the whole thing.

One good suggestion would be covering the use of resource files. Mainly:
1) What is the difference between a '.resource' and a '.resX' file?
2) Why is it that I can't seem to move a resource file (.resource or .resX) from one project to another without getting exceptions.
3) Other general things.....

an example of the data we neeed to collect and repost is the loads posted here http://www.topflighttrans.com/loadlist.htm

If you can't force them to agree to some common format, maybe in XML, you've to write a parser that can extract text from the HTML (it should be not so difficult, since I suppose that this kind of data is organized with HTML tables).
It looks like an iteresting job, but I'm in Italy and so it's a bit difficult to arrange this kind of work
