I'm thinking of designing a slider control that doesn't do anything that different from the ones Microsoft provides, but is more friendly to programmers who use it. Specificly, it would support the track and change events that the ActiveX control provides, but would not automatically display raw units in a tooltip above the slider. Would this be too trivial to make an article on?

Go for it. As long as you explain clearly what you are trying to solve, and present the code in a clear and informative way it should get people looking at it. It could provide the answer to problems that other people are having and help them.
Why not do a WinForms version and a WPF version? That way you could show people how to work with the two technologies.

You problem has nothing to do with hosting the Java VM. It has to do with the code not written to run under Windows. Your main function isn't valid for Windows, but it is for UNIX and DOS.
It would help if you didn't just Copy'n'Paste code off the 'Net without understanding it. You've made a bunch of "Windows Programming in C++ 101" mistakes. You may want to try creating a "Hello World" app for Windows in C++, before you jump right into hosting a foreign runtime environment.

Noone is going to send you an entire application coded for you, for any reason what so ever.
And you're using the wrong forum for this "question". You might want to post this in the forum of the language you're using and ask a specific question about the problem you're having in your code, complete with a snippet of the code where you make the connection and it's failing.

Problem Statement.
Given an input array A[1, n], n >= 1, you are to write an iterative algorithm QuickSort(A, n)to sort the elements of the array in non-decreasing order.
Program Development
You are to Implement your algorithm using C, C + +, or JAV A programming language.
1. Your program accepts, user specified, input filename and the output filename.
2. The input file contains a sequence of n >= 1 integers A[i], for i = 1, 2, . . . , n, one integer
per line.
3. Your program will read the input array A[1, n] and rearrange the elements in A so that
A is ordered. You may assume n <= 255.
Your program must keep count of 1) the number of pairwise comparisons, of input
array elements, performed by your program and 2) The maximum size of the data
structure used during program execution for a given input array.
4. Your program should output to an user specified output file
(a) The input array A[1, n] and the ordered array using the same format as the input file, and
(b) The number of pairwise comparisons of array elements performed by your program, and the maximum size of data structure actually used by your program.
plz help...........

Why do you think that we will develop your software for you? Are you going to come round to my house and clean the guttering for me while I'm at it?
The task is for you to develop a piece of software - not me. There's a word for behaviour like this and it's called cheating. If you can't develop the code for yourself then it's not our problem, and it certainly isn't fair of us to help you pass a course that you can't cut it on.
So sorry - but I really don't think that people here will help you.

bakar_monu wrote: I WILL BE FAILED IF I WILL NOT SUBMIT IT BEFORE SPECIFIED TIME
And you deserve to fail if you haven't put any time into this project. There's noone here who will bail your ass out by just handing over code for you to turn in as your own work.
Even if someone is stupid enough to do your work for you, you're going to fail anyway. Why? Because suddenly the coding style will have changed from your previous projects. Since coding styles are unique from person to person, your prof will immediately know you didn't write the code you turned in. It'll look and feel different from the work you've done before and flag you as a plagurist.
