I do check to postback and the controls are redrawn with the new values. However, the UI displays them as if no change has occurred. I can even step through my code, see the values being reset, and the UI will not reflect the change. Any other suggestions?

In SQL Server 2000, use:
CREATE FUNCTION ColumnCount (@TableName sysname)
RETURNS int
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE @Ret int
SELECT
@Ret = COUNT(1)
FROM
(
SELECT
name
FROM
syscolumns
WHERE
id = OBJECT_ID(@TableName)
)
Return @Ret
END
For anything else, open a recordset with "SELECT TOP 1 * FROM <TableName>" , and check the Fields.Count .

I use access and do not understand how it works. does this code ofr asp.net. if it I do not use asp.net. I work with asp and access.

How to load the home page of the web site in the full screen as soon as the web site address is typed in the browser & enter is pressed.

my 2 cents:
This has to be the most intrusive thing you can do to a user.
Is this for a specific webapp. or just a website?
Cheers,

I want the full screen only for the first (home) page of the site. As soon as the user clicks on that page, all the other pages should be in the same window (not in new window) & in the normal size screen (not full screen).
Thanks

We have a situation where we would like to programmatically prevent the Windows logo from spinning, since some of the operation that we are peforming requires the connection between the browser and the server to be open. What are the programming controls that one can use? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA

As I recall you would either have to use IEAK to distribute your own version IE or create new web browser application.
The spinning globe is a resource in the dll. You could always try replacing it with your own but that may cause unknown issues.
Why do you want to stop the world anyway? The connection would already be open, the spinning is a progress indicator when, for instance, a page is being streamed in.

i did not pay attention to "codepage" before.

Codepage is used when you want to define the characterset used on the page. Youo can find a reference of the Win32 ref. numbers here. ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/act/htm/actml_ref_scpg.asp )

Hey Folks..Im using the aspload control for loading images on to the website.
Now this object has a function called save..
it works like
obj.save "/test/photos/image"
This command works perfectly and the files come to the directory. here /test btw is a virtual directory..
but then now if i use a variable called savedirectory which has the samevalue ie "/test/photos/image" stored in it and try
<% obj.save savedirectory %>
it does not work.i dont understand where am i going wrong.

All variables in VBScript are Variant . The interface for the COM object is probably expecting a String . Try using:
<% obj.save CStr(savedirectory) %>

It may be very simple. When i create a web application using c#/ASP.NET i am not seeing any ASP controls in the aspx page while viewing in the browser. Why is this. I have .NET installed and i have IIS 5.1 . I am able to see the lable control though.
Any help?
thanks.

could it be that you aren't adding the runat="server" attribute to the tags?

how can i refer variables of 1 form on other...
|
|
|
|
|
Well, it depends on what is available to you. If you can write server-side code then you could carry them across in the Request.Form collection (ASP 3.0) and dynamically insert them as hidden form elements. I'd be glad to show you how to do this if it is an option. If it isn't then assuming the two forms are on the same page you could use javascript.
If the forms are on seperate pages you are going to need some server-side code to carry the variables over and keep your session state.
Real programmers don't document. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.
