Is OOPS concept in Visual Basic 6?

Not really. VB6 is also out of date, unsupported and rubbish. Learn VB.NET instead.

"OOPS" is something you say when you have made a mistake.
VB6 is a procedural programming language with limited support for object oriented programming (OOP).
VB.NET on the other hand is a fully* object oriented language.
* Although some feel that it lacks certain OO features, it more than well meats the criterias for being an object oriented language.
Experience is the sum of all the mistakes you have done.

when i update a record in the database, the database becomes updated but the oledbdataadapter does not relect this changes until i restart the application. when I deployed the application, the changes do not even reflect even when I restart the application though the updated record appears in the database
this is the code i use to refresh the dataset.
Try
DsAsets1.Clear()
OleDbDataAdapter1.Fill(DsAsets1)
count()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
I am using Ms Access as my database.

Hi David
From the Above Cod, you are Clearing dataset "dsAssets1",
but Filling the dataset "DsAsets1". So check your "s" , where you will the dataset. but if this Dataset was not declared, then VS should tell you that. mybe you have many dataset and the name confused you. show us your code, if it doesnt work after you fix your Spelling Error.
Hope it Helps

hi
Did you use a wizard to create your adapter, or did create it your self, if so then lem me see the update command of your adapter.
try this and tell me your Error and remember if your table has no Primary key , you can never update the table.
Try
DsAsets1.Clear()
OleDbDataAdapter1.Fill(DsAsets1)
count()
Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException
MsgBox(ex.Message)
End Try
End Sub
.
And Dont Forget to import the name space like this
Imports System.Data.OleDb
Thanks

thanks. I was able to find the solution after visiting many forums.
I used this code to refresh and its now working fine
Conn.Open()
mycmd = "Select * from Asset"
da = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(mycmd, Conn)
da.Fill(dsAsets1, "Asset")
Conn.Close()
I really appreciate your concern. am very grateful.Thanks again.

Visual Basic 2005:
I have a DataGridView in Last Name sequence.
Is it possible to when a user types the first letter of a last name
that it displays all rows with last names that start with that letter.
When he types the second letter, it displays all records whose last name starts with those 2 letters, etc.?

On text changed event or keyup event, rebind it with filtered data.

You should offer a "Filter-Textbox" for that.
So the user can see the current filter and edit it.
In Textbox.TextChanged() you can build a valid filter-expression like:
Dim sFilter as String = "LastName like '" & Textbox.Text & "*'"
And pass that String to the BindingSources (I hope you use one) .Filter - property
|
|
|
|
|
I can't believe how well that worked!
Thanks!!!
Below is the code that I ended up with:
If LastNameTextBox.TextLength > 0 Then
PatientBindingSource.Filter = String.Format("LastName Like '" & LastNameTextBox.Text) & "*'"
Else
PatientBindingSource.Filter = String.Empty
End If

First, let me apologize if this isn't the right place for this.
I've been asked to create an Outlook add-in that will enable me to pop-up a dialog box at the time the "send" button is clicked on an outlook email message. The goal is to confirm the existence of a properly composed subject line.
Can any one point me in the right direction? Perhaps there is a good on-line resource for tapping into the "send" functionality.
My limited skills include VBScript in Visual Studio.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!!

Could you please rephrase your question/problem? It's not exactly clear what you're trying to do, and, if you have a small chunk of code that you cold post, that'd be helpful too.
Thanks.

You could use File.ReadAllLines to read the text as a string array then look for strings that start with Name: ( etc ) and parse out the values.

I am writing a program to update some of my files that I have on other computers. It is simple and just transfers the files from a cd to a given location. The location is a read-only folder. I need to change this property by using code before I can copy the new file to the location and then return the folder to read only. I already have the code to transfer the folder but I need to code to change the property of the folder from read-only = true to read-only = false. This needs to occur before the file is moved. I do not know where to start so any help will be appreciated.
I have this:
Dim str_ToPath As String = "C:\Folder\myFolder"
Dim str_FromPtath As String = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrenDirectory()
Dim localfile As String = "myfile"
Dim fso, file
' Get handles to folders current location.
fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
'Here is where I need the code to check if the folder is read-only or not and
' change if it is read-only. The folder will be the str_ToPath folder.
file = fso.GetFile(str_ToPath + localfile)
' Delete the folder.
file.Delete()
file = fso.GetFile(str_FromPath + localfile)
' Copy the file to correct location.
file.Copy(str_ToPath + localfile)

Why on earth are you doing this ?

Hi,
I create VB.NET applications/utilities for the company I work for and I was wondering what is the policy for using the VB Controls from Code Project in these VB.NET applications/utilities?
I have been looking around the Code Project web site and cannot find anything written specifically about use of code/controls for commercial use, guess I have not been to the right place.
I have seen some good controls here and I do not want to reinvent the wheel, but I need to know if I can use them or require permission or what not.
Thanks,
Jamie
|
|
|
|
|
The general idea is that you can use them, but the sensible approach is to ask the authors of the controls you want to use.
