I don't think this is right. ReportSource of the CRV object should be a ReportDocument Object and DataSource of the ReportDocument Object should be the DataTable .

Hi all,
I am asked this question in an Interview. Add the Cart Entry in the tempory Grid which has the buttons for edit/delete.If the user add the entry then you have to show the items in the added cart and if the user want to delete then that particular row has to deleted.
I have replied that, I wil store the entry in the Gridview, when the user click the add button then add that entry(row) in the View. If the user click the click the delete button i wll remove the particular row from Gridview.
But the interviewer told that not it is not that goood way. What I did wrong heere
Thanks
Dana

Well, if they tell you it's not a good way, you need to ask them why they think so, and be prepared to either accept their advice, or to argue the point if you think they are wrong. What did they say the reason was ?
My main thought would be that a more lightweight control would work just fine, and a site with a shopping cart may be high traffic and concerned about server load.

OK - next time, ask. If I interviewed someone and told them their answer was wrong, and they didn't ask, that would be the end of the interview for me.

Normally here in India, If the interviewer is telling that your answer is wrong and you are asking why, then your rating of getting selected wil go low considerably.

Well, that's the sort of attitude that will kill people outsourcing to India, if it's not dead already. That is just dumb.

No, you are wrong. Interviewer's alway test your confidence level. You should be strong enough to ask why when they are wrong. If you are not selected it's not because you asked why, may be someone would have done better than you or you might have not performed upto their expectation...

iam working with files... i brought a file content into a textbox and i made changes to the file content now i want to save this modified file with the same name and with the same path.

The text file comes down from the server ? So you want to save it back to the server ? Why is the user modifying a file on the server, and why is it in the file system ? You can just get the text on postback and write it to the file.

It sounds to me like you're hopelessly lost. This is the ASP.NET forum. It doesn't sound like you're writing a web app. Did you mean the C# or VB.NET forum ? If so, File.SaveAllText is what you need.

This depend's on what you want. Say for an example If you want to transfer the control to another page in the same server but you prefer to keep the URL the same and like to transfer the query string values to the next page then you should use Server.Transfer . If you just simply want to tell the browser to transfer to another page in the same server or different server then you should use Response.Redirect . Note: Server.Transfer doesn't add the page to the history of page visited on the client-side cache.

Thanks for the Clarification Jhon ,
Will the Response.Redirect Forces the Session Varriable to be posted to the Transfered page ?
Dana

Session variables live on the server, they are not posted anywhere. Viewstate exists on the client, and it's lost in both cases.

Session values will be available through-out the session in all the pages. You don't have to think of session values when using Server.Transfer and Response.Redirect. it's there...

I think this question is already posted in this forum...
There are a lot of way to do..
1. Add ASPNET account to Administrators group....
OR
2. Give the full permission to everyone (including ASPNET account)
OR
3. Add impersonate=true in your web.config..
hope it helps...

Hi
I have a ASP.Net 1.1 website with VB as code behind and the aspx pages inherit from certain business objects which in turn inherit from the System.Web.UI.Page class. In the business object, they have go the declaration for a couple of third party controls present in all the pages. The problem is that every time, I switch to design mode for the pages, Visual Studio inserts a property declaration for those controls present in the page and now it is duplicated. Is there a way I can trick Visual Studio not to insert declarations for all those controls which are already defined in any of the classes in the inheritance chain?
This is how the structure is:
Page1.aspx has a third party control with id set to 'crtl1'.
Here is how the inheritance chain is:
Page1 inherits BusinessObjectA
BusinessObjectA inherits BusinessObjectB
BusinessObjectB inherits System.Web.UI.Page.
BusinessObjectB already contains the declaration for crtl1.
Now, if I view Page1.aspx in design mode and then view the code, Visual Sutido inserts a declaration for crtl in Page1's code behind file.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
tsr.
