You can't, an ASP.NET app cannot look above it's root. Move the file

Hi Christian Graus,
Using FileStream class i will establish a file stream to that file. Later i will declare a Byte[] datatype. then using binaryreader(filestream object,Byte[]) i will convert the image file and then i will show this to my image control. It has worked. But this solution is time consuming. Most of my users access my application thru dial up connection.To display 9000 photos it will take so much of time.
I am searching for a better solution. Please if u find one other than the above let me know
Thank u in advance,
Raj

I don't think that ASP.NET can access the file which is stored outside the domain.

Use the Absolute Image path to display the Image. I would suggest you to store the Absolute path in a common place like web.config or resource file and access it from there.

Even if this is done, ASP.NET won't be able to access it, because it's out of root.

I thought that physical path can be used to display the Images. I was wrong.

Why don't you create a virtual directory inside the application domain for the Images folder which is in the D Drive, so that you can refer the Images using the virtual path. I'm not quite sure... you can give a try...

How can we change security setting of Trusted Sites programmatically. For example enabling ActiveX Control and Plugins enabling or disabling or setting it to prompt.
Please tell me how i can do that ?

You cannot change the browser setting or install the Activex Control programmatically without the user's consent. No scripting language will allow you to do this due to security reasons.

I have a requirement for a site that has a feature to show previews of other sites. These previews would presmubaly be stored as an image but the code would have to power to produce them itself. ie got to the site, render what was there into an image, which could be saved, and then displayed as I required on the front end.
I have found the following product http://www.websupergoo.com/abcdrawhtml-1.htm[^] but it seems to be based around asp rather than .NET.
Does anyone know of any other products?

Hi,
I have here a very complicated issue. I cant figure out how to implement it.
I have this folder path: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Site\Download\PDF
Inside this folder got many PDF files like:
1) 200709.pdf
2) 200705.pdf
3) 200701.pdf
4) 200606.pdf
5) 200502.pdf
6) ++ many more.
So i want a page to be implement this way, my page contains 30 sections of product descriptions, which sometimes there are long in words. I want each product description header to have 2 select box like:
Year select box and populate the specific filename of the PDF in format "May 2007" on month select box (which is side by side of those 2 select box).
Is it possible?
I hope you guys understand and pls help me.

Get all the list of file names from the folder and your filename has the details such as year and month. Use the substring method, manipulate and bind it to the dropDownList (Month and year).

Window.open() takes a optional argument that specifies the windowName. Give a windowName when you do a window.open(). Two Windows cannot be opened with the same name.
window.open('PagePath','WindowName','WindowAttributes');

Is the username specification is possible in javascript.If possible how it will apply.We call the username by authentication purpose.This window is used for chatting purpose.That meanss in gmail like.if the user is online thn he can chat with other online users,if the user click on a online user once thn the event of onclick is disabled in gmail .We want like that.

Basically you need to give distinct names to each window being opened. So in chat window if you click on member1 then name it member1 and if you click on member2 name it member2 and so on. You can simply pass the selected member name to the function to open a window.
