Hi all,
OK, desperate now - I've been on this for days...
I have a large native C++ mobile project I have just migrated from eVC++ to Visual Studio 2005.
I need to integrate Intermec's RFID library into the project but they only have a managed .NET assembly available.
Is there some way I can 'talk' to this code? Can I create a C# project, incorporate the Intermec stuff, create some entry points and access them, dll style?
I was thinking of migrating my project to managed C++ but it seems this is not available in the Compact Framework.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Regards
Jason

Hi Jason,

This isn't possible. It's not possible for native code to host and then execute managed code since the .NET CF doesn't have any hosting APIs to enable this kind of functionality.
What you could do is create two executables. One managed and one native. Then you could use something like point to point message queues to communicate between the two processes (i.e. a form of IPC). The managed executable using the RFID library could continually be waiting for commands from the native process.
There's a great article on MSDN written by Daniel Moth that covers how to access point to point message queues within the .NET CF environment - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa446556.aspx[^]
Hope this helps,

Hallo.
I have the following problem;
Is it able to use smtp programatically to send mail from PDA to PC?
What i want to do is to write a program where the user will click a button and the contents of a ListView or a .txt file will be sent to a given e-mail address. The user's account (From) will be something like user@gmail.com.
Is it possible? Any help given or any articles pointed to read would be great.
Thank all in advance.

I’m working with a Psion Teklogix 7535G2… the thing tells me its running Windows CE.
When I try to install CE applications, I get a prompt telling me that the executable is not a recognized Windows CE application.
So, I go to Windows Update, thinking that this thing hasn’t been used in awhile and may be missing something. The Windows Update site tells me that I’m using a Macintosh operating system. I’m confused.
I don’t suppose anyone has a clue what is going on here?
Thanks.

You need to know what version of Windows CE that device is running and also which CPU it has. Native code Windows CE applications are CPU-dependent.

I'm writing a client for a PocketPC 2003 application, connecting to a main application server. If the client is unable to connect to the server, my application should revert to a local data source.
connectionSocket = new SocketPacket( );<br />
<br />
IPEndPoint remoteEndPoint = new IPEndPoint( IPAddress.Parse( remoteHostIp ), remotePort );<br />
<br />
connectionSocket.LocalSocket.Connect( remoteEndPoint );<br />
<br />
connectionSocket.LocalSocket.BeginReceive( connectionSocket.DataBuffer, 0, SocketPacket.BufferSize,<br />
<br />
SocketFlags.None, messageReceivedCallback,connectionSocket );<br />
<br />
Reset( );
Reset simply sends a message to the remote machine to reset comms. The problem is, the software thinks the LocalSocket.Connected = true even though it can't be so proceeds as normal. I've put a try.. catch block around this code, but it doesn't fail here it fails further down, trying to send. The Connected property I assume cannot be trusted.
Does anyone have a suggested solution for this other than putting in masses of try..catch?

I'm writing an application in .NET that write data on a Sql Compact Edition Database on a Mobile Device from a Desktop application. Is it possible without using IIS or RDA? I've tried to make a simple connection with a TableAdapter, but I can't find the right ConnectionString.
Nevertheless, testing the connection from VS2005 or VS2008 all seems to go ok, as the peview of the dataset...

Hi,
you can access pocket pc registry with remote registry editor. You can find it in Visual studio Remote Tools. You only have to connect your device and access its registry very easily.
Are you using Visual Studio 2005 to develop your application and make your cab? If yes, you can add a registry entry creating a visual studio smart device cab project. There´s an option to create new registry entries if you right-clic on your cab project View -> registry.
I hope it helps you.

Hi Everyone
I am trying to create a wizard program on a Windows Mobile 6 Classic.
When the program starts, it will get some settings from a webservice on the internet.
Theese settings contains information about each step in the wizard.
It will not always be the same number of steps, that will be initialized in the program.
I have created the wizard as a tabcontrol, so when the program is initializing the actuel number of wizard will be added to the control.
On each page I have a "next" button, which contain the following code:
if (tabIdx == -1)
tabIdx = 0;
tabIdx += 1;
TabPage tp = tabSteps.TabPages[tabIdx];
tp.BringToFront();
There is only one problem with this solution. I Cant remove the tabs at the bottom of the program, so the user can navigate to every step he/she want.
the tabPage.Enter event does not exist in the Compact Framework, so i cant change the tabIdx when entering a new tabpage.
How do i solve this?
