Hi friends,
Can anybody tel what is the use of "runat" property in asp.net
I tried with out using this property but the page is not considering that control.
If we give runat="server", it will run at server. If i want to run at client what i have to give.
If you can explain with example, it will be very useful
Thanks in advance

All the tags marked by runat=server will be processed by ASP.NET.

What do you want to run on client ? Use javascript which works on client side.

Use HTML Controls without runat attribute.

Can anyone explain me the main difference between .Net DLLs and Non.Net DLLs

.NET dll's are in MSIL format, and it is completely managed code. Garbage collection will be done automatically.

Hi there,
ASP.NET 2003 and VB
I am from VB6 background and learning how to program in ASP.NET 2003 using VBscript.
On a ASP.NET Form, I am trying to move from one TextBox to another using SETFOCUS when an ENTER key is pressed.
In VB6, I can use KeyPress property KeyAscii value 13 and SETFOCUS but on ASP.NET I am totally lost as there is no KEYPRESS event available. The Users doesn't want to use TAB key.
Example of VB6 script
Private Sub txtFirstName_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)
If KeyAscii = 13 Then
txtLastName.SetFocus
End If
End Sub

What a disaster. VBScript only runs in IE - learn javascript instead.
In jscript you can use document.getElementById and focus to do what you want.

hi friend Good Morning
i want to open menu on the click of grid view row how it possible please help me
Thank u

There are 2 parts to this functionality:
The first being the server side event to be raised on the grid view row's click.
The second being a client side script (such as JavaScript) which displays the actual menu.
Once the server side click event has been raised, register a client script block in the page to execute a JavaScript function in order to display/hide your menu.
You can get your hands on a JavaScript popup menu at many different online sources.

Hi,
I tried to upfate the date field of table from .net. I have tried like the below:
Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase();
using (DbConnection connection = db.CreateConnection())
{
connection.Open();
DbTransaction transaction = connection.BeginTransaction(IsolationLevel.Serializable);
//DateTime dt = Convert.To(TextBox1.Text);
string s = "Update table1 set update_dttm = To_Date('" + DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString() +
"','dd/mm/yyyy')";
DbCommand pcmd = db.GetSqlStringCommand(s);
db.ExecuteNonQuery(pcmd, transaction);
transaction.Commit();
}
When I execute the string in s in Oracle it is working fine. But from .net I am not getting any error. It is executing continuously.
Whats wrong in my code.
Thanks in advance

Here is my problem:
I have a web app connected to a SQL database. I need to create a report that displays counts of certain records during a certain time period. Also, within the report I need to display the name of the person who created the report, their phone number, and the date that the report was printed, but all of this is entered from a different page and I was passing it via query string. Can this be done and how can I do it?
|
|

That is most definitely possible, with the following constraints:
In order to display the records for a certain time period, your rows need to have a created date column or something that you can base your query on.
You won't be able to report the time that the report was printed on because the event hasn't happened yet. You could alternatively store this date in the DB and report on it later.
To pass the person's name and phone number via a query string is easy. Once you're ready to redirect the user to the report page, do the following:
Response.Redirect("Report.aspx?name=" & sPersonName & "&phone=" & sPersonPhone)

Yes, but how do I put that information into the report? I already have a date column that I can base my query on, but the issue is that I just don't know how to search by these parameters.

hi
I have a ASP.NET website.I work with sqlserver2000 database in it.
now I want to upload the site.
How I should upload the database?
|

2 ways spring to mind:
1. Detach the database and copy the MDF & LDF files to your production environment.
2. Backup the database and restore it in your production environment.
