sure you can, but thats a lot of work. Its easier to just code your own system rather than overriding each table and stored procedure if you know what I mean.

But my member table has different structure. I want my own table to store the member informations.

I am using ASP.net 2.0 to develop a web application in which I am playing a video file using "active movie player (media player)". How do I know that the video file playing is completed from ASP.Net code (using any script is OK).

It depends, if you want to let them enter raw HTML, just store it and serve it. If you want to offer templates, then you need an editor and you need an engine to fill the templates with the settings to make the pages.

Dataset can't contain rows, a datatable can contain instead. Data table has a Select() method where you can query datatable. Try that.

Can anyone recommend a good control for working with 3D objects (move objects in 3D, move camera, filled areas, etc) that is preferably free?
Secondly, what is the best technology/framework for working with 3D graphics on web pages?
Thanks.

Hi,
I call a web service method and if it fails I get a load of Soap error stuff that I don't want:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Exception: MyErrorMsgString.
at MyWebService.TestThrowException()
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
How can I get it to just display the error message I want? In the stuff above I just want to get the MyErrorMsgString text.
Thanks

The InnerException property of the SOAP exception contains the exception from the server.

Thanks for replying
The message shows the inner exception though - it has all that extra text around it and that's what I don't want.
It seems that when I get an error message back from a web service I've written, it contains all that extra stuff. I just want it to send back the error text I provide not all that other stuff.

Make sure your web service is throwing an actual SoapException rather than just an Exception . You can throw one as easily as this:
throw new SoapException("My Error Text", SoapException.ClientFaultCode);
You'll get a more "concise" message that way.
For more general information see here[^].

Read my previous post.
Repeat until it sinks in.
If it doesn't sink in, ask about what it is that you don't understand.

Have you had a look at DTS (SQL Server 2000) or SSIS (Sql Server 2005). Do you have to do this from an ASP.net front end?

Hi,
I have a migration project. I want to use existing vb 6.0 dll's in ASP.net. Hope you all understand my requirement, we are migrating from Window based application to Web based Application.
Has any of implemented it before, if yes please let me know. Will there be any kind of performance difference ????
Thanks a lot to all !

What do you want the dll to do ? If it's business rule, server side stuff, you may be able to call it with p/invoke. If the dlls provide UI, or otherwise need to run on the client, you probably can't do it, at least not easily.

Hi,
My text (notepad) cotains few ascii characters; one of which is ENTER symbol (like a square box).
I want the text as it is, while I paste it to a textbox. (Access it through Textbox.Text property in code) -- Asp.net/ vb.net
Instead,
(i) when I pasted in a textbox with text mode as single line, the portion of the text before the enter symbol alone pasted.
(ii) when I pasted it in the with text mode as multiline, then it is pasted as two lines.
Is there any way to get the same text in textbox?
Jey

No - in fact, it's notepad that's messing with you, the textbox is correctly showing you two lines, if it's in that mode. If it's not, it's correctly stopping at the end of the single line.

For performance I would like to switch between https and http automatically depending on if the page content is sensitive. I am hosting on godaddy which does not allow you to turn on SSL for a directory. I'm trying to think of the most clever way to accomplish this. One idea which I am using is to have 2 master pages, default.master and defaultsecure.master. The pageload event swaps the users protocol, if necessary. This way I can simply mark a page a secure by masterpage and know that the user will access that page via https and go back to http when back to a public page.
Is there a more clever way of doing this? Or some setting I missed in the web.config? I'm using .net 2 login controls and was surprised there was nothing there to support this.

iam havaing a text box where the user enters the date in any formate but the it should get get in dd/mm/yyyy
|
|
|
|
|
You need to know which format the user chooses to enter it in, otherwise how can you tell the difference between:
09/10/2007 (9th October 2007)
&
09/10/2007 (10th September 2007)
Have you considered a calendar control?
