I agree, and I don't even bother treaching MD5 in my class. I stick to SHA-256 or better.

you set the image using a URL from the DB, is the URL wrong, or does it just not display ? ( well, if the URL is wrong, it won't display, but is the problem that the URL changes, or that what you think is a valid URL does not work ) ?

There's a second parameter to ReadAllLines where you can specify the encoding to be UTF8, I think. The default is probably ASCII.

I have created ASP .Net web service using VC++ .Net, if there is one function inside a namespace its working well, but if add one more function, it is not running. Is there any restriction for number of functions inside web service?

AFAIK, there is no restriction for that. How many function do you have so far?

Are you getting the error or something?

Hi I got the problem,
There are two functions,
In CPP file, one function's class name before the scope resolution operator was incorrect[letter case was different] and thats why did not compile correctly.
Thank you very much for your help!!

No there is no restriction on having functions in web service. I think it must me the way you implemented those functions might have some problem.. please verify reading some documentation on the same, to chk whether you hav implemented them correctly.

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus()
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at UseWebApplication.WebForm1.btnSendSoap_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\UseWebApplication\WebForm1.aspx.vb:line 63
while passing soap request in web service like
<soap:envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:body>
<receivexmlfromcytric xmlns="http://localhost/WpmsDeCtWebSrv/WpmsDeCtWebSrvService.asmx">
<request>

I have written following code to access the webservice
Dim strUrl As String = "http://localhost/WpmsDeCtWebSrv/WpmsDeCtWebSrvService.asmx"
Dim req As HttpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create(strUrl)
Try
req.Headers.Add("SOAPAction", "http://localhost/WpmsDeCtWebSrv/WpmsDeCtWebSrvService.asmx/ReceiveXmlFromCytric")
Dim content As String = txtHttp.Text
req.ContentType = "text/xml; charset=utf-8"
req.Method = "POST"
Dim s As System.IO.Stream = req.GetRequestStream()
Dim sw As New System.IO.StreamWriter(s)
sw.Write(content)
sw.Close()
Dim res As HttpWebResponse = req.GetResponse()
s = res.GetResponseStream()
Dim sr As New System.IO.StreamReader(s)
Dim strresult As String = sr.ReadToEnd()
sr.Close()
txtResponse.Text = strresult
Catch ex As Exception
txtResponse.Text = ex.ToString
End Try
Please help to provide the solution.
Thanks

Title: Encountering HTTP Error 500
Issue:
The server was unable to send the html document to you due to an internal (server software) error.
Resolving 500 errors - general
This error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of your Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error.

Actually i've created a desktop application. Now for that application, some microsoft.sqlserver files must be installed in the local system.
I want that during installtion of my desktop application, there should be a way for checking that .sqlserver files have installed. If not then, it prompt to the user that those files must be installed for this desktop application.
Please help me about this asap...

If you are using ClickOnce, you can add the SQL server as the pre-requisition... No coding required.
If you wanna check the registry, you can also check this key. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion" too.

I know that it can be done by using custom action in your installer class but I'm not very familiar with normal setup because I used to use ClickOnce in the most of my projects... so, if you want to know about custom action, you can search in google. ..net setup and deployment with custom action[^]
If you want to use Clickonce then you just need to check the pre-requisition button in publishing page..

thanx Michael,
I dont want to install anything during installation of my desktop application.
I just want that during installation, installer check that perticular files have been installed or not on the user's local system and prompt to the user that for this desktop application these files must be installed on your system.
After prompting this message, installation of my desktop application must be completed.
I think you are getting my problem.
Please provide help accordingly.
I am waiting for your reply..
Plz provide asap...
Thanx
