You have to set the parameter direction to output. Then access the value of that particular parameter after calling stored procedure.

It doesn't really help when you aren't clear as to what is not working.

I am creating this page where I am reading from the database using a SqlDataReader and Loading the info into an ArrayList. The ArrayList is a class member and the ArrayList object has been created in the class constructor, therefore, this object should be visible to all other members of the class.
However, if I add some objects to the ArrayList in a MenuItem_Click and then try to read those added objects from a Button_Click, it shows the ArrayList is empty - which seems quite surprising. Obviously I am missing something.
Any help?
Thanks.

The two clicks happen on different postbacks, so there's a new list each time.

Hi Christian,
Thanks for the reply. I worked mostly with non-web-based apps, so I thought if I create the ArrayList in the costructor, its always the same List unless the page is disposed.
So, what would be the solution? How do I get the same Even if I use a DataSet, is it gonna behave the same way? Please help.
Thanks.

Everything is going to work the same way, your options are:
1 - store it in viewstate ( this means it goes down to the client every time, making it insecure, and also making your pages huge )
2 - store it in the session ( I don't like this if I can avoid it )
3 - don't store it at all, redirect so some value is on your URL that allows you to rebuild the data from the database.

Thanks so much Christian. It was really helpful. I thought there could be a better way that I don't know, but looks like there isn't. Off course I'll not use ViewState, probably, I'll use the Session.

I am trying to create a table for layout. Simple header, content and footer sections (rows).
I want the header to sit flush against the top of the page and the footer to sit at the bottom of the page. The content section should fill the available space. I thought setting the height of the table to 100% would accomplish this but there appears to be problems. Is there a neat solution to this problem? What is the workaround?
Code shown below:
<br />
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %><br />
<br />
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><br />
<br />
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><br />
<head runat="server"><br />
<title>Untitled Page</title><br />
</head><br />
<body><br />
<br />
<asp:Table Width="100%" Height="100%" BackColor="Azure" runat="server"><br />
<asp:TableRow><br />
<asp:TableCell Height="50px">top</asp:TableCell><br />
</asp:TableRow><br />
<br />
<asp:TableRow><br />
<asp:TableCell BackColor="Beige"><br />
<form id="form1" runat="server"><br />

</asp:TableCell><br />
</asp:TableRow><br />

<asp:TableRow><br />
<asp:TableCell Height="50px" BackColor="BlanchedAlmond">bottom</asp:TableCell><br />

Try to use with CSS. Because there is some issues in using Width of table directly.

I have an ASP.Net web application in C# that needs to generate a text file automatically every hour. Is there a way for me to automatically generate the text file without any user interaction on the server or through a client? Is there a timer function that I can called? Thanks.
|
|
|
|
|
You would need to write a web windows service that uses a timer to run some code to generate a file at hourly intervals.

The Webcontrols.Login control has a RememberMe checkbox that when checked will write a cookie to the client machine with their identity info. When the client re-visits the site their Page.User.Identity info is read from the cookie.
Anyone know what data this cookie actually stores? Does this cookie store the UserName and Password? Is it storing the UserName and a flag that says this user did successfully log in?
I guess I'm basically wondering how useful this cookie is VS how secure it is.
|
|
|
|
|
If the user successfully logs in and the RememberMe checkbox is ticked, the authentication ticket generated by the Forms Authentication system is stored in a persistent cookie. This ticket is an encrypted string that, when decrypted, uniquely identifies a particular user account. No plaintext information is stored in the cookie for obvious security reasons.
For more information, see this article[^].

I think you can set the color of specific columns in RowDataBound event of gridview,and also you can implement this by javascript alternatively

I think the dynamic control will be lost while postback. You will have to keep on adding on every pageload.

Hi All,
Is there any ways to know which all applications are using a particular assembly installed in Global Assembly Cache (GAC)?
Thanks in advance

You question is not much clear to me could you kindly explain in details.
you can use Assembly Class for that

loaded from the global assembly cache
