Have you ever tried using ViewState to send data from one page to another? Does it work?

How about using Server.Transfer() method to redirect to the next page and accessing the values of the previous page?

Hi forum,
i am developing a c# based web app in .net 2.0. I wanted to add my assemblies to GAC.
I followed the required steps by creating a strong key, and then adding the following line to my Assemblyinfo file
[assembly: AssemblyKeyFile("C:\\mykey.snk")]
However, as soon as i compile my class lib, i get the following error.
Error 2 Assembly generation failed -- Referenced assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data' does not have a strong name Test<br />
This seems strange to me, since my enterprise library dll`s are already in GAC (used the installer to do that).
can anyone please advise me on the same..

By default, Enterprise Library dll are not installed under GAC.
If you are sure that those dlls are already installed in GAC, the dll that you used in your project is not from the GAC..
Try to check the path of dll that you have referenced.

Michael,
yes, the ent lib is not installed by default, but i did that using an installer. And i can be sure of this because i can view the ent lib dll`s in the Asssembly Cache Viewer, from .net 2.0 console.
Apart from that i get the Dll`s listed in the Add reference dialog.
However, as you mentioned about the path, i checked the properties and got this one
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Enterprise Library January 2006\bin\Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.dll
Is that wat it should be. Also, the Copy Local property is true.
Please Advise

hi,
some leads that i get after a drill down is that the web.config file contains the entries for the assemblies as follows
<code>
<configsections>
<section name="dataConfiguration" type="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Configuration.DatabaseSettings, Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" />
</configsections>
<dataconfiguration defaultdatabase="DbConnectionString">
<providermappings>
<add databasetype="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Sql.SqlDatabase, Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" name="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</providermappings>
</dataconfiguration>
</code>
<code><add assembly="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" />
<add assembly="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" />
<add assembly="Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder, Version=1.0.51205.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" />
<add assembly="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Security, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" /></code>
The PublicKeyToken=null attribute is probably the root cause of the problem, I tried changing it to the value from GAC, and it shows an error..
Can anyone please advise me on the subject.. been stuck on it for a long while now.

how i can pass an array into a viewstate and at the same time how i can retrive that array from a view state
|
|
|
|
|
Why do you want to use the Viewstate? I suggest you to use the Session or Cache..
For example:
Session["mysession"] = yourarrayvariable;

To add an Array to a Viewstate
Viewstate.Add("KeyName", ArrayVal)
To retrieve the array from the viewstate
stringArrayVar = CType(ViewState("KeyName"), String())
Note : ViewState can persist the values during the postback and are accessible on the same page, can not be accessed accross the pages.

Hi Sindhu!

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><br />
function SQRT()<br />
{ <br />
<br />
var value=Form1.inputText1.value; <br />
value = value * value; <br />
Form1.inputText2.innerText = value; <br />

Hi,
How can I loop through an HTML Table and check all controls of each cell (TD) in it.
What I would like to achieve is make one TD on that table visible=true, and make all other TD visibility false.

Try this code. You will get all rows of HTML table.. then, check the tr variable at runtime, you will know how to get the cell value.
<br />
var tbody = document.getElementById("t1");<br />
<br />
var i = 0;<br />
for(i = 0; i < tbody.rows.length; i++){<br />
var tr = tbody.rows[i]; <br />
}

I've enabled script debugging in IE, but I can't debug in VS 2005 aspx file.
I'm not doing TBODY, instead I'm using this structure:
<table>
<tr>
<td></td></tr></table>

It's okay... I think my code will still work..

It's strange.. What about Firebug? See this article[^] if you are not so sure how to use Firebug.
OR
You can try to alert (eg. alert(tr.cell[0]);)

I really appreciate it, thank you.

Here is a DOM example[^] that will give a tip on how to traverse a HTML table and access the controls in it.

I have a web user control.
I need to create one property in this control that can be accessed in the main page on client side.
How can I achieve this.

Normally, It is not possible... I think you probably need to use the third-party Ajax frameworks (e.g: AjaxPro and etc)...
|
|

use a Hidden Field on the web-user control. you can access it on the client-side.
