and, if you want to login, run the ChatService.exe. then, run the project.. drag and drop the image.. type your name and click "add" button..

I already did that. If I just run it without creating the Proxy then I'll get the following error after logging in:
The formatter threw an new exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:name. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type System.String. End Element 'name' from namespace 'http://tempuri.org' excepted. Found element 'b:ImageURL' from namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/Common'.'. Please see InnerException for more Details.
So, if I just compile the proxy with svcutil, and change the tempuri to localhost, then I'll get another error.... Or an Microsoft error after pressing the login-button +.+ That's why I'm asking =|

You should really post this question on the message board for that article. The author should be able to provide an answer for you.

I'm not very familliar to thrads, so I would really appreciate if someone could help me.
My problem is this: I want to connect to an SQL database (using System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open()) and, while this method is working, start a ToolStripProgressBar (by setting its propery Visible to true, it is a Marquee-style progress bar). If I start the progress bar before I connect to the database, nothing seems happens with the progress bar until the connection is already open. I also want the progress bar to stop (by setting Visible to false) when the connection is open.
How would you recomend to do? Thanks /Viktor

Is it taking that long to open the connection?

Good question
It does take a few seconds, so it's not a very important thing to do. But still, I think, it would be a nice thing to do, and don't really think it's a very hard thing to do.
Thanks though

When I embed an HTML file as ressource in a winforms exe or dll, can I access it through an URL?
|
|
|
|

IE does this for stuff like DNS failures. Try this:
res:
or
res:
Open up the .DLL in any Resource Viewer and you should get the idea.

Hello!
I'm trying to create a secure login dialog. The dialog should be displayed on a different desktop (like Windows Vista's UAC prompts). Showing the dialog works very fine. However, the dialog has the ability to open a file browsing dialog (OpenFileDialog ), which does not show up. My guess is that the OpenFileDialog is displayed on the previous / default desktop, however I'm not sure about this. It simply does not show up on the new desktop, and the calling thread is blocked (application unresponsive).
How can I show an OpenFileDialog on a different desktop? Is there any way to tell the dialog on which desktop it should show up?
Best regards
Dominik

Hey Guys,
I am working on creating a App for WM to Sync some data over http to a server.
The data will be synced every 5 seconds.
I also have an App that runs a program which will produce the data that will be synced.
The question that I have is:
Should I create a separate App for Syncing or Should i use the same App to Sync?
How can I accomplish using the same App?
If you guys recommended using a different App, can I create a service App that just runs in the back ground?
Thanks

Not exactly an answer to your question, but this could well be a big timesaver for you (and save you reinventing a wheel that Microsoft has spent a lot of time and money inventing for you). Have you looked at the Sync Framework from Microsoft. It's currently at CTP, but it is potentially the jobby for you.

"Developers can build sync ecosystems that integrate any application, any type of data, using any protocol over any network."
Damn those Microsoft guys for making innovation possible.
Thanks, I was just considering how to add sync capabilities to one of my mobile apps.
only two letters away from being an asset

Make sure the resizeable property is true in your designer.

Sorry - but i dont have this property in my designer - i try to add it in the designer - but the object does not have property with name "resizeable".

Ok try FormBorderStyle property
|
|
|
|

OK, I found the FormBorderStyle property and i changed it to any possible option that i have there - but still i can't change the Form size by drag the edge of the Form.

If I wanted a way to get the content of a textbox in an open application from my application, where would I start looking.
Basically, I want to loop all open windows, loop the components in that window and look for text/password-boxes.
I'm guessing it has something to do with EnumWindows, EnumChildWindows, GetClassName and so on but could someone give me a small example to get started.

so you want to steal passwords eh? Well hopefully no one on this site will help you, black hats are generally not supported here at CodeProject

Oh, no, that was just for debugging purposes: He wants to know if the textbox effectively contains the given password.

well, if I wanted to steal passwords there are plenty of free and commercial software I could use to do that, I'm merely interested in the concept of the matter.
