Always happy to take the plunge but might be limited to time. As such, would want something flawless - quickly. I was also wondering if you could use a flowlayout panel or the more advanced layout panel and just use buttons - but assuming that I will still need to connect the buttons with the appropriate directional flow arrows.
Thanks

I'm using Wizard generated controls in a database project.
I have a dataset, bindingsource, and table adapter. There is a datagrid bound to the binding source.
I'm trying to call RemoveAt() on the binding source, but it throws an error indicating that the list is
FixedSize and cannot be modified. How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am using OleDbConnection to connect to the database. When the connection string get passed i can see clearly that the password is encrypted. But all the queries and the results are communicated in clear text. Is there a way to send this encrypted?
I just wonder, because all my passwords in the database are stored encrypted...
Thanks
PS. I am using .NET 1.1

Hi,
I was wondering how to convert a byte value to a binary array.
for example the byte value 16, how to convert into 1111?
Thanks!
|

Hi,
AFAIK there is no direct solution, you'll have to write some code.
Here is a C# example:
static string ToBinaryString(int number) {
char separator=',';
int nibbles=8;
int index=5*nibbles-1;
char[] chars=new char[index];
for(int nibble=nibbles-1; nibble>=0; nibble--) {
for(int bit=3; bit>=0; bit--) {
char c='0';
if((number & 1)!=0) c='1';
chars[--index]=c;
number>>=1;
}
if(nibble!=0) chars[--index]=separator;
}
return new string(chars);
}
It will generate a fixed-length string, i.e. zeroes get prefixed (since that is
the way I like to have non-decimal numbers), and comma's get inserted every 4 bits.
BTW it will turn 16 into "0000,0000,0000,0000,0000,0000,0001,000"
and not in "1111" (which is 15)

Hi all,
Can you please help to guide me through the following for OWC11 in vb6:
1) plot a chart with 2 value axis, both are line chart
2) add annotations(text) in chart area, with controllable alignment, font, color and location
3) draw lines in chart area, with controllable alignment, color and location
Thanks all

Hi,
I am developing a windows application. In this I have a list box which should be populated with a list of categories in the form load event.I've used a DataReader to do this. when I add a new category it should be automatically added to the list box also.I should use a seperate form to add a new category.If it's a Web appl it's very easy as the page will be refereshed every time.

hi
Do you want those Categories to be Added to the DB, when you add them with your list box, but still appear in your form? if so , remember you cannot update a reader, then you should use a dataset. please explain angain in detail what you want to achieve
thanks

In visual studio 2005, i have used a masked textbox control and set its mask property to phone number.
Also I am using a button to insert the phone number into the masked textbox(as shown in the code), but when i do so,
it inserts the number in the masked textbox from the end part not the beginning.
Code...
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
MaskedTextBox1.Text+="1"
End sub
How to insert the value in the masked textbox from the beginning like in a normal textbox?
Any ideas??

xbiplav wrote: MaskedTextBox1.Text+="1"
that is the same as MaskedTextBox1.Text = MaskedTextBox1.Text + "1"
so it appends a single 1 to whatever is already in the MTB.

|
|
|

My question is not concerned with appending the number that was already in the masked textbox.
Actually what it does is, it append the value from the last part of the masked textbox control.
I want it to append from the beginning like in a normal textbox control.
To be clear, please try it yourself.

xbiplav wrote: append from the beginning
there is no such thing as "appending from the beginning".
x+="1" will append a one to the existing string, increasing its length by one.
x="1" will throw away whatever x was holding and put one instead; the resulting length
will be one.
what textboxes typically do is select any text that happens to be present upon cursor entry;
the first thing you type then replaces the present text (that's like x="1"); the second
character you type is appended, etc.
When you use other means to add text to the textbox, it does not get focus, so the
present text is not selected and replaced.

I am sorry i cannot make you understand my question.
You have to test the problem yourself to get understanding of my question.

I can't as you fail to show a problem or a complete program.
There are several articles here about MaskedTextBox, maybe they can help you?
|
|
|
|
|
Please try using .AppendText .....

xbiplav wrote: MaskedTextBox1.Text+="1"
If you want to add the text at the beginning, how about
MaskedTextBox1.Text = "1" + MaskedTextBox1.Text

Are you using a third party control, like Crystal Report Control?
I kept having this error when trying to display a Report. The report control was getting an error, it just doesn't
know how to report it to .NET. There was something wrong with my report. Once I got the report fixed, everything was fine.

Put it in a google search and see what happens.

You failed to supply any details of what you are doing and expect people to magically know what the error code is?

You can't concatenate DataGridViewColumn objects. The Sort method only takes a single DataGridViewColumn object, or a class that implements the IComparer interface.
Here's an example on using IComparer from MSDN Library:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) _
Handles Button1.Click
If RadioButton1.Checked = True Then
DataGridView1.Sort(New RowComparer(SortOrder.Ascending))
ElseIf RadioButton2.Checked = True Then
DataGridView1.Sort(New RowComparer(SortOrder.Descending))
End If
End Sub
Private Class RowComparer
Implements System.Collections.IComparer
Private sortOrderModifier As Integer = 1
Public Sub New(ByVal sortOrder As SortOrder)
If sortOrder = sortOrder.Descending Then
sortOrderModifier = -1
ElseIf sortOrder = sortOrder.Ascending Then
sortOrderModifier = 1
End If
End Sub
Public Function Compare(ByVal x As Object, ByVal y As Object) As Integer _
Implements System.Collections.IComparer.Compare
Dim DataGridViewRow1 As DataGridViewRow = CType(x, DataGridViewRow)
Dim DataGridViewRow2 As DataGridViewRow = CType(y, DataGridViewRow)
' Try to sort based on the Last Name column.
Dim CompareResult As Integer = System.String.Compare( _
DataGridViewRow1.Cells(1).Value.ToString(), _
DataGridViewRow2.Cells(1).Value.ToString())
' If the Last Names are equal, sort based on the First Name.
If CompareResult = 0 Then
CompareResult = System.String.Compare( _
DataGridViewRow1.Cells(0).Value.ToString(), _
DataGridViewRow2.Cells(0).Value.ToString())
End If
Return CompareResult * sortOrderModifier
End Function
End Class

Thanks but I don't understand how it is related to my problem.
I have in my db:
MAINBOX | SUBBOX | 1 | 0001 | 1 | 0002 | 2 | 0001 | 2 | 0002 | 2 | 0003 |
...
I am displaying those 2 fields in datagridview. I would like to display them as described above -> First Sort by Main Box and then by Sub Box.
Please help,
Thanks

You showed how you tried to use the Sort method, and I showed you what to do to accomplish that.
