Hi,
As I understanding from the Note: I must manually convert the two web pages to (.dll) files to allow value passing from FirstPage.aspx to SecondPage.aspx, but Unfortunately there is no bin folder contains (.dll) files created automatically whene I build the project, so I have to do the solution mention in the Note, but Unfortunately too the error message appeares (a NullRefefence Exception Was Unhandled by User Code ) on the bold text for the firstPage.aspx web page.
public readonly property firstname() .
Get
' first is the name of a TextBox control.
Return Me.first.Text
End Get
End property
I hope the idea of the probelm reach to you.
thank you again

I am making a small page in ASP.NET and in order to resize a specific control at runtime, I need to know the height of the homepage in the browser it is open in.
How do I get this height of the page?
I have tried to look through the available properties in the C# code (in my case located in Default.aspx.cs) but cannot seem to find anything about the size of the page.
If it was a Windows form I would just have called the Height property but is something like this available in ASP.NET?

You can't access this information in your server-side C# code. You can however access this information in JavaScript. Use the properties of the screen object.

I created an asp.net application on .NET Framework 3.5, then published it on my IIS6, it works.
but I have some question about this, why the ASP.NET version 3.0 or 3.5 are not in
IIS > 'My Website 1 Properties' > ASP.NET tab > ASP.NET version dropdown list?
some wrong while VS2008 install?

AS i know , when you install Framework 3.0 its just upgrdate the Framework 2.0 .
From MSDN Forum
Q: What happens when I install the .NET Framework 3.0? How can I upgrade if I already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed?
A: When you install the .NET Framework 3.0, the installer will check to see whether you already have the .NET Framework 2.0 (released version) installed. If not, the .NET Framework 3.0 installer will install the .NET Framework 2.0 for you, and then install the new .NET Framework 3.0 components. If you do have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed, the .NET Framework 3.0 installer will only install the new components of the .NET Framework 3.0.

Hi everybody,
I trying to come up with a web page architecture that would be easiest to use/modify and I can't come up with a satisfying result. This is my idea about how the architecture should work:
- there is a parent page with defined layout - header, footer, side menu, content panel (placeholder)
- each child page would derive from parent page (having same header, footer, side menu) and defines it's unique content in the content panel
- child design derived from parent is available in design time in VS designer
I tried to use dynamic approach by having one default.aspx with header, footer, side menu and content panel. In Init phase content (user controls) was loaded. Problem was that I could not handle content events properly, and after some research I've realized that it's not possible in .NET 2.0 , as the event's fired by content user controls are too late to properly add and register different content on same place in one postback. I was also considering creating one parent.aspx control, but if the page design is created in design view (html), it's not passed to any children as it is obviously not a part of parent's code behind.
thanx for any advices
zilo

By writing code

Probably. But you should try and solve the problem yourself first before expecting someone to give you a solution. Do some research, write some code and post again if you are still having problems.

Does your web application use Forms Authentication? If so, you need to perform the authentication programmatically. Look at the FormsAuthentication class, particularly the Authenticate[^] method.

We are developing an Asp.NET application. Everything was working fine and well. We had SQL 2000 in a Windows 2000 machine and development machine was having Windows XP. But, then we had to format the Windows 2000 machine. Windows 2003 was now installed in the machine. We then installed SQL 2000. It asked for a minimum of SP3 for SQL 2000. We installed SP3 as well as SP4. After this we were able to access the SQL 2000 database from Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer as well as a Desktop application. But when we wanted to populate a Grid View in an ASP.NET page from the database we got the following error:
"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
We googled and we tried different things but we were unable to arrive at a solution. Our work is getting hampered because of this. If anybody can please provide a solution for the same, we would be highly grateful and thankful since we are in the midst of a project.

i used the update panel , in this way too, i achieved the reduction of access time. But how can i define the funciton using the ajax to do the same.
If you have an apple & I have an apple and we exchange our apples, then each of us will still have only one apple but if you have an idea & I have an idea and we exchange our ideas, then each of us will have two ideas!
