Indeed - however, I was trying to see if it was a problem with dodgy files.

The period is the separator between the name and the extension. Every file has an extension, even if the extension is an empty string, so it doesn't exist any file names without a period. Even folder names has a period.
Experience is the sum of all the mistakes you have done.

Hi Guffa,
I have been using both Unix and Windows systems, and that is why I had chosen the special wording,
so my statement remains intact, but I can add your clarification plus some, leading to:
"*.*" returns no more files than "*", it does skip the ones without period which exist
on unix-based systems, but do not exist on Windows; Windows file systems always have
an extension, which may be empty in which case the period is optional, typically not shown,
but still acceptable when refering the file.

Using standard C++ it is a little more complicated, but I can write code to load and run a COM dll that isn't registered with the system (avoiding the need to have administrator privelages). Is this possible with .NET, or do I absolutely have to register a COM dll in order to use it from C#?

Not sure. Most of the time I use a COM dll, I just add a reference to it and all works.

See Registration-Free COM Interop[^] in MSDN Library.
This feature requires at least Windows XP SP2.

Thanks! That looks like exactly what I want.

I hope i am in the right group.
I have the following problem:
I deployed an application by ClickOnce (files have been created by MageUI.exe) and selected the processor type x86 (because the application was builded in x86 mode).
Now I changed the processor of the application to Any CPU and also the processor mode of the ClickOnce files to msil (by MageUI.exe)
As I deployed the msil files to the same Website where the x86 files have been earlier and run the application link (in Start menu) on the client, I got an error.
In the error description I read that the files aren't valid anymore.
The link on the client (in Start menu) has the following data
http://localhost/x86/MyApp.application#MyApp.app, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, processorArchitecture=x86
So the problem is that there is a fixed processor Architecture setted.
Can I change the processor type in ClickOnce without removing the old application in the client?
Does anyone have an idea?
Thank You

Not sure if you can, or if you have to have one for each architecture.

Hi,
I have found a link for changing the context menu entry with vba for O03.
http://www.outlookcode.com/codedetail.aspx?id=314
But i want an add in. i am not an professional vb programmer. What must i
change from the code to get it runable as an add in?
Or would you prefer Outlook 2007 for context menu programming. it looks much easier.
thx

If I have more than one version of one assemblies, then how'll I use old version (how/where to specify version number?)in my application?

You would normally do this in your app's app.config file.

I haven't seen anything that says "YES, it's supported!". I know .NET 2.0 has support for the XPath 2.0 data model, but not the query language. I can't find anything about XPath support in .NET 3.0 or above.
I'd be willing to bet that it's not supported for fear of introducing too many XML query languages into the mix.

Unfortunately, as far as I know it isn't implemented.

Hi all ,
I have a Form object which is added to a Panel , Is there any way to change the opacity of this form after becoming the child of panel?
I searched through net , but couldn't find any solution .
Thanks in advance .
|
|
|
|
|
No, it's not possible. The entire top-level form is the only one that can use Opacity (and still see a result). If you set the Opacity of a form, treated like a control on a parent form, nothing will happen. The form will still be completely opaque.

Thanks , but Is there any alternative solution?

The only way to do this would be to take over the drawing of the client altogether. This is not a solution for the faint hearted.

Hello, I am getting the trusted location error on "c:\documents and settings\XXXXXXXX\Desktop\Projects\app1\app1" which is an absolute local path. According to everything I've read this should only come up on UNC paths... any ideas?

Is this something you've downloaded? If so, right click on the Project file and select Unblock.

Thanks Pete, it seems that is the problem.... is there a way to turn off these rediculous 'helpful' features?.
EDIT:/
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/image-vp592089.html[^] shows how to turn off that annoying thing.
run gpedit.msc
Goto: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager
Enable: Do not preserve zone information in file attachments

Hello to everybody,
I was wondering how to use this function to have the Real Object instead of the trasparent proxy one.
I'm asking this since I wish to use .NET remoting to remotize a SQLDataReader. Last Time I tried I have a really bad performance, since each single sdr.Read() returns to the remote object and then to the calling client, with a really high time overhead.
I've seen that ObjRef has got this method : GetRealObject(StreamingContext context) , it's possible to use it in the code or it's used just when overriding it? if yes, where I get this StreamingContext?
Thanks
Paolo

Hi all,
Is there an easy way in .NET (C#) of setting up a drawing area from the page size in the printer settings? I want to produce an effect something like Word/OpenOffice Writer where an A4 page can be drawn to and printed. In MFC I could do this with CScrollView but am struggling in C#.
TIA.
