Hi,
Let me explain step by step,
First: I have a file which gives details of a user as., FName, MName, LName, Address, TestDate, TestResult etc...
Second: I have to import this file and store it in Data Base. And assiagn a unique number to each user.
I am maintaining a Database where candidate details and test details are stored in separate tables using the unique id i created as the key.
Third: If this user to whom i had already assaigned a unique number, will take another test. And again the data is send in the same format (FName, MName, LName, Address, TestDate, TestResult etc...).
Forth: This file does not have any number or a unique field which can differentiate one user with other.
Fifth: In this case i have to only input the test details and not the candidate details as the user is already holding a unique id.
Question 1: How can i differentiate the users from one to another.
Question 2: How can i check wheather the user candidate data is already in the database or not. As generally different users do have same name and common addresses which are very irrelavent to check.

If different users really have the same name and the same address, then you don't have enough information to determine if a user already exists in the database or not.

i created a new class (called clabel), inherited from label and in this class i override the label's-textproperty :
shared MyText as string
public overrides property text() as string
get
mytext
end get
Set(ByVal Value As string)
mytext= value
end set
end property
in my form's load-event i dynamically added now a number of these new custom-labels, like this:
dim i as integer
for i = 0 to 10
mylabel = new clabel
with mylabel
'size, location...
.text = i
end with
me.controls.add(mylabel)
next i
now i would expect to show each label in its text-property a different number, from 0 to 10.
but they all show the same (highest) number, in this case "10".
why?

It is simply because you are using a shared (static) variable MyText to store and return value of Text property.
Please know that shared (static) variable is a variable which has just one instance which is shared by all instances of objects.
Therefore text property of your all clabel objects will always have same value because they all are pointing to the same MyText variable, and this value will be value last set for MyText, which in this case if 10.
Declare MyText as a Private string variable and your issue will be resolved.

I have used a webbrowser control to navigate to a site. I have extracted the HTML source code of the site and filtered the links in it. I want to navigate to the links one by one. But it is using somekind of internal functions to link to everypage and every link has got the same link text.
can anybody tell how can i actually simulate like clicking on every link that is in the page through vb.net 2005 using webbrowser control.

How can i convert an rgb image to an YCrCb image??? is there any builtin function for it in .net?? or any other easy way out?

Where do you hope to use this image ? .NET ( and Windows in general ) can do nothing with it, so the framework isn't going to help you. You'd need to get a library for a format that uses YCrCb.

Hello all,
I am writing a dll in VB6.0.
I have another dll in VC.NET.
I want the communication between these 2 dll.
I've used VB's dll in VC.NET successfully(Using Interfaces).
Now I want VB's dll to send messages to VC.NET dll using SendMessage API.
How can I do that?
Or is there any other way by which this task can be done?
Please advise.

Hi!
I am populating the treeview on fly from database. I am trying to maintain the selected state of a tree node (either parent or child). select node in parent works fine but when i try to find a child node i get null reference exception. can someone please tell me how i could select the child node.

Have you set breakpoints in your code, and then looked at data in your objects? This will do wonders, it will let you see if the data in your objects/variables are what you were expecting. Without more detail, such as what you tried, detailed expection info, or some code, that's the best I can offer. I left my crystal ball at home.

yes i did set up breakpoint.
If Not Session("locationid") Is Nothing Then --> when they select a node i am storing the value of selected node in session
Debug.WriteLine(Session("locationid"))
'Debug.WriteLine(tvProperty.SelectedNode.Value)--> prints value of the node
tn = Me.tvProperty.FindNode(Session("locationid"))--> where i get null ref exception

please note it didnt throw exception when i navigate between parent nodes.
its only happening when i navigate between child nodes.
in findnode do i need to give ref of parent, path seperator etc?

My question is this...
I am trying to change a column of a datagrid to a drop down combo box. I set everything up but my problem is that I am displaying a list of text in my combobox ("Preparer", "Reviewer", "Approver") I need to set the values of these items to 1, 2, 3. I don't want the program to recognize the string representation of the items but their enumerated values. How do I achieve this?

Every item in the datagrid will have fields as Text and value.
Generally Text and value are taken as the same, but user can change value field to any thing without effecting data in the text field.
Check datagrid properties...

insert a keydown-event for your listview.
then check e.keys for enter-key and when enter is pressed, pick out your listview's selected item and convert it to a string. then you have your selected item's text.

Hi,
I have 2 forms.On main form I have a listview and a button to add the customer in the listview.
On clicking the add customers button a new form opens up with a gridview with all the customers.Now what I want is that when user select multiple customers from the gridview and click ok button on customers list form then the selected customers from gridview should be added in the listview.
