When a user hits a key on the keyboard, a client-side event is fired. The server is not used to capture or use this information as the server is simply recieving a request from the client (through the HTTP GET and POST protocols). Therefore you should focus on capturing and handling keyboard strokes on the client-side. The DOM's event object should provide you with the information you need when used in conjuction with the DOM onkeydown event (this is the event that is fired when a user hits a key). The following code shows an example of how to achieve this:
Function to handle the key stroke:

Hello Friends,
I've designed a contact page for the clients. But as i press Enter key from the keyboard it throws me on the Home Page or Default Page. But it must either save the record or fire the validation if the textboxes are empty.

You ought to trap the button click event and if the event keyCode turns out to be of ENTER key, then invoke the submit button click event.

Hi,
I have got one dropdownlist and a gridview control on my form.
Dropdownlist is outside the gridview.I want that no of column in grid view should appear in dropdownlist.
Suppose gridview contains a column with the name Details1, Details2, Details3........etc.
All that column name should appear in dropdownlist.
How it is possible?

Hi,
It is possible to simply enumerate the columns collection of the GridView control and extract the required data. The following code will need to be run after the DataBind() method of the grid view has been executed:
for (int index = 0; index < grdTest.Columns.Count; index++)<br />
{<br />
ddlTest.Items.Add(new ListItem(grdTest.Columns[index].HeaderText, index.ToString()));<br />
}
Using the code to then hook up events between the DropdownList and the GridView is another matter...

I want to set a menu in master page which would be link with a xml file. Because i want to use different different menu for different type of users. when i creating xml - like this :

It prevents to create multiple root. When i remove the <DOWNLOAD></DOWNLOAD> portion, on the page it shows only one menu item at starting. and on mouse over on HOME shows other child items.
Please help me to create menu items and their child items using xml.
Or any special idea...

Hi,
I have an application, where in i want a new data grid to be displayed when i click a record in the grid. and the new grid should be displayed just beneath the row clicked (i.e) the new grid should be within the old grid.
Can somebody help me in this regard.

Use template column and put a new grid inside that. Find this inner grid in main grid's data bound event. Bind the child grid with the required data. By default the child grid's style can be set to "none" and when the link is clicked, using JS change this visibility to "block" which will display your inner grid.

You are not setting the data source again. You need to set the data source again in the page index changed event, before you do DataBind().

When the paging is clicked, the page will postback, where your DataTable will be clear. So you have to generate the DataTable again and assign it to the GridView. Call the DataBind now.

The logic written above will work if and only if you declare your data table as shared,

Hi,
I am trying to create a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2005 for SharePoint Services 3.0.
I've installed the VS 2005 extensions for SharePoint and for WorkFlow Foundation. When I try to create a new project, I'm getting the error:
" The designer could not be shown for this file because none of the classes within it can be designed."
Initially it showed that the dll "microsoft.sharepoint.WorkflowActions" could not be found. So I copied this dll form Server where WSS 3.0 is installed and put in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\ISAPI" in my PC and added the reference. Still the designer error persists.
Could someone please assist me with this issue?

When I click on any webpage which contain files list. webbrowser start to download that file.
my problem is this that I do not want to download the file with any downloader instead I want to redirect that file to the concerned application like if i click on for example song file i want webbrowser to open the media player and give that to media player.
i m using vs 2005 and coding with vsual basic
please help me to sort out this problem

Wouldn't it do this by the file association from the suffix anyway? Another approch is to stream the bytes to the output stream and set the mime type.
Try using "server.Transfer"

I already tried file association and mime type was defined but webbrowser still tried to download the file rather then handingover to programme
please is there any programmitacaly approach with vb on asp.net page to capture the click event and redirect that event to programme like using shell command

You can't do this as it is completely decided by the browser. If it is video files, use silverlight to play streaming videos. For other file types, it should get downloaded for accessing it.

What if i prepare vb.net application & insert form with webbrowser control. then is there any way to overcome this problem or still limitations will remain there. if any door is open please help to sort out that i will be grateful for cooperation
