i dont get you sir..how to change it?

Change the #include statement to also include the absolute path to the tools.h file, like:
#include "c:/some_path/tools.h" As it currently stands, you are using a relative path.

While ask this species questions we prefer to shown only debug window's result will be very easy way to find a solution.

Hi.
Thanks for the last responses. After reading further, seticon etc is not whta I wanted to accomplish. I want to change the actual exe icon of the file shown in the directories after I compile. I found out that the FIRST ICON that is listed in the resources VC use this as its icon. My problem is that I can conditional compile and want to be able to change this icon just by setting a define etc. Can anyone suggest how to do this? I do not know how to do this association of this to any lets say ICON after recompilation. I do not want to set it after I start the program.
I hope I am clear enough.
Thanks for the help.

I believe you can use #defines, etc, in your resource files. Just edit your .rc file (might have to do it in an external editor) and do something like:
#ifdef MY_CONDITION
IDR_MAINFRAME ICON "res\\my_icon_1.ico"
#else
IDR_MAINFRAME ICON "res\\my_icon_2.ico"
#endif
That's for an MFC app, but it should be similiar for other types too.
Where you define MY_CONDITION is up to you. Could do it in resource.h or in the .rc file itself or include another file.

If you are using VC resource editor, then right click on the Icon, select properties and enter the macro name in the condition edit box. So whenever this macro is used then that particular icon will be included else it won't be.
From VC Help:
Condition
Determines the inclusion of the resource. For example, if the condition is _DEBUG, this resource would be included only in debug builds.

Hi all
I add these code in a standard single document project
<br />
int CMainFrame::OnCreate(LPCREATESTRUCT lpCreateStruct)<br />
{<br />
...<br />
m_wndStatusBar.SetPaneText(1,"A");
m_wndStatusBar.SetPaneText(2,"B");
}<br />
I can see "B" in the "NUM" status edit, but I can not see "A" in any where.

Hello everyone,
Why "if classes provide their own new but forget to provide nothrow new too, nothrow new will be hidden and won't even work."
http://www.gotw.ca/publications/mill16.htm
BTW: I understand we should avoid nothrow new, and now I am just interested to know why if only provide normal new, there will be issues?
thanks in advance,
George

Why don't you read his previous column?

Thanks Maxwell,
I have read through the article, and I think if we only provide one version of new in current class, compiler will stop in current class searching for the other 2 forms of overloaded new even if current class does not provide it (they are defined in base class or global space).
The issue of providing only one form of new is, when other class uses the other two forms of new, since in current class, it is not implemented, there will be compile error.
My understanding correct?
BTW: from the article, I am not sure why it is a compile time error, it should be more like a runtime error?
regards,
George
