Rather than having the drop down list AutoPostBack, have you thought of using AJAX or JavaScript to handle the onchange event? Would be a lot quicker and provied a better user experience all round.

I know sorting can be done ascending/descending on a gridview.
Can it be done on each page of the grid when paging also is enabled?
Thanks

when you want to change your sort direction, aren't you have to bind the data again? that process will bring you back to page index 0, isn't it ?
well if you want to go to certain page, just assign that certain page index at gridview.currentpageindex ...
hope it helps..

I have a drop down list with gridview. When the page loads the option in the drop down is 'select an item'. However the gridview does not load all records when the page is first loaded and the user has not made a selection yet in the drop down. Here is my code:
<asp:dropdownlist id="DropDownList1" runat="server" autopostback="True" onselectedindexchanged="DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged">
<asp:listitem>Select an item
<asp:listitem>A
<asp:listitem>B
Protected Sub DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles DropDownList1.SelectedIndexChanged
If DropDownList1.SelectedIndex.Equals(0) Then
tabledata.SelectCommand = ("SELECT * FROM [table]")
End If
End Sub

Hi,
You will need to handle the initial population of the DropDownList in Page_Load, or another page event, as the SelectedIndexChanged event of the list will not get fired on the inital GET of the page.
Hope this helps...

Use Request.QueryString["action"] to look for the value in the query string. The value returned is as string, which is null if the value was not present in the query string.

You may need to get a ASP.NET/VB.NET book and read chapters on ADO.NET.

I have tried like this,
Update following in function you have already. Sorry, the code is in VB.NET.
Dim myCallback As Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImageAbort = New Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImageAbort(AddressOf ThumbnailCallback)
Dim myBitmap As Drawing.Bitmap = New Drawing.Bitmap(img)
Dim myThumbnail As Drawing.Image = myBitmap.GetThumbnailImage(800, 600, myCallback, IntPtr.Zero)
myThumbnail.Save(IO.Path.Combine(Server.MapPath("."), "test.jpg"))
And also add the following callback function.
Public Function ThumbnailCallback() As Boolean
Return False
End Function
