hello..
i am developing an application in asp.net using c# and am getting an error in the command.executenonquery method which throws an exception that the executenonquery requires an open and active connection though just above the call to executenonquery method i have opened the connection as connection.open where connection is a property that gets the connection which has been made from configurationmanager.connectionstring... I know there is no problem with connectionstring coz i have tried executereader and it works fine... To my knowledge the error has something to do vith serverversion... coz when i run the executereader and check the connection object over there, the connection state is open but when i run the nonquery then the connection object shows in its serverversion the follwing string
"ServerVersion = 'command.Connection.ServerVersion' threw an exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException'"
Plz note that state of connection is closed even after i call the connection.open method...
Plz provide help

Well, it's obvious that your code is broken, or your database server is broken. Seeing your actual code would go a long way to helping us comment on it.

The three lots of CDs represent three different types of processors. Install the version that matches your processor.

To do this in ASP.NET, you need to write a winforms/Java or other component that you can embed in your website. This will cause all sorts of issues with people who don't accept/allow that sort of thing to run. There's no way you can do it using ASP.NET.
Why would a website want to run a barcode scanner ?

Well, then those are your options, you can't just use ASP.NET, you need to be able to embedd something in your web page that is running with the ability to interact with the ports on the system to read barcodes.
Although, some barcode scanners work by entering the barcode scanned as text into the textbox that has focus, I expect that would just work in a web site.

I've told you all you need to know. If you don't know how to do what I've told you to do, then contact your client and let them know. All I can do from here, is write the code for you, and I'm not going to do that. You cannot read barcodes using HTML and javascript. You can put a textbox up there if the barcode scanner will fill it with text for you, otherwise you need to write a component that is embedded in the page, which means you need to read on how to embedd a .NET control in a page, and read the SDK notes that came with your barcode scanner, to read how to write the actual code that does the scanning.

The reason someone gave you a 1 vote, is that this is plainly not an ASP.NET question

Typical response from someone who doesn't care about politeness. Sorry, it doesn't cut it. You spam the boards, with a question that turns out to be quite trivial, and you think you're justified because YOU needed something ? No, that's not how it works. If everyone spammed every board with their questions, we may as well have one board, right ?
