Oh My! You can not expect that much up-to-date attitude here. I had an opportunity to talk with one of my colleague who was with me in one of my second previous organization. They are still using VB/ASP and Crystal Reports.

Some people are locked into legacy projects, but this guy is obviously very much a beginner, so I assume he's just learning, and the express editions are free, so there's no reason to learn 2003 that I can see.

I have a good reason (I think)
To keep my tools up-to-date all the time, I will spend time searching and downloading new versions, or I will lose my money purchasing these updates
And the biggest problem is that I will waste time learning how to use the new tool or versions
So when will I develope?
I think that I can do everything using C++ or even ASSEMBLY

Generally speaking when people sell tools they price them so they are worth buying... its worth trying out things that you have heard good things about - it saves you money over the longer term. (ie: Resharpers saved me many times it's list price in time).

Well, the express editions are free so you won't lose money there.
Mohammed Gouda wrote: And the biggest problem is that I will waste time learning how to use the new tool or versions
In general, the new versions build on the older ones so your knowledge won't go to waste. More importantly, the versions tend to introduce improvements and productivity enhancers so you should have a look.

Hi,
I want to read and write the records from the databse(Client side)
and then these records get inserted into the table that is at server side.
I want to create script or any file format(Excel,XML) so that server database can read and then write the records into the server table.
format and records will remain same.
How Can I do this?
Thanks

ASP.NET can't read data from client database since ASP.NET executes at the server. You can use DTS to transfer data from one server to other, but it has nothing to do with ASP.NET. SQL forum would be appropriate.

Ok.
Will it possible to write structure of client database and then use
it at the server.
and then by using the ASP.Net Program it can be read and then write at the server side.
or some any solution for this problem.
Thanks

you can write a component that embeds in a webpage, but even then, I doubt it can read the client side DB. Even if it had a valid connection string. Really, your best bet is to provide a client side application that takes the connection string, reads the database, and sends the data via a webservice. ASP.NET isn't going to cut it.

Thanks For the Information.
But again it is possible to read and write database structure(also contains records) and run it at the client side using the ASP.Net Application.
If yes then How can it be?
Thanks,

I'm speechless.
Yes, you can do it, easily. That's why two people have told you it can't be done, we're trying to keep all the good stuff for ourselves.

I have to read the records and the write it into the XML or Excel file.
Then with the Help of the above file I want to fetch the records and stored it into the database. I dont want to write directly to the database.
The Records writes in a such a way that structure of the database would not change.
How can it be possible.
Thanks,

You can't automate this process. You can take the structure of database manually, supply that through an upload control to ASP.NET and execute it on the server. ASP.NET can't read the file you created at client side automatically. But don't go for such kind of solutions since it's not the right way to do this.
If you are trying transfer data from client DB to server DB, DTS will do a fair job.

After successfully saving the information into the database , how should i invoke the message box with a button ok and a caption , record is successfully saved.

This is the ASP.NET forum. That won't work, because the msgbox ( apart from being a VB6 hack that you should not use ) appears on the server, not the client. This code will kill a website, the page will hang and the server won't be able to process any other requests.

Is not supported in Web world (ASP.NET, actually IIS). DO NOT recommend others to use it.

That will give you a nice server side message box.

To expand on Navaneeth's (correct) answer, you need to save the data and then you'll need to post back to the same page, and insert script so when the page reloads, it shows a message box with alert("your data saved"), or whatever. But, if you're doing a postback, you may as well just write it on the page, instead of the nastiness of a message box. If you use AJAX, then you can wait for the response and use javascript to show the message box after the AJAX call has saved the data.

Hello Everyone,
I am developing a website and one of webpage generate the following error
" Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster."
I already disabled my page Viewstate, and ViewstateMAC for faster page rendering.
Hope you'll give me some suggestions.

Turn off the viewstate validation, it's a property in the page attribute at the top of the page.
