And what to do when you made a new topic at an unfortunate moment, and it gets digged to the 20th page in no time? Just make a new one?

If it gets bumped then so be it. Although I'd be really surprised if something got moved that quickly.

Here you go, got chased into oblivion in no time, although it doesn't look too hard to solve. =/ I explained it thoroughly, gave my code, and it's a pretty specific question. Is it possible this topic has been assaulted by a... page-tsunami? (DUN DUN DUN...)

I can see alot of other no-replies-topics at pages higher than 25 or so. Those are all victims of the Codeproject-Forums-don't-want-you-to-bump-dictatorship.

For new users who register at CP till the display name is customized by the user, the system actually generates beguile names like Member <memberid></memberid> for example <small>Darren Hinkley Member 2239923</small> .
I just wanted to suggest if the display name could be a combination of First Name and Last Name to the extent of 50 characters. Wouldn't this be more friendly?
Numerical figures representing a person's display name looks very weird.

"Member X" is generated when the person doesn't supply a name. If they supply a name we use it.

Can there be a mandatory filling criteria set for this field?

This[^] post of Brad Kelly's is quoting what it claims is text I wrote but which actually was written by Josh Gray[^] in another thread.
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop.

Our quote system will only enable you to quote what's currently on the Reply page.
His post was made using CPHog which means there's a chance he highlighted text from a different message when quoting, since CPHog allows replys directly from the messages.

Is there a way to private message members on the forum? If not I think some kind of system should be added.
I saw an active member's profile, namely Luc Pattyn, and wanted to ask some questions.
It would be a cool thing to be able to do.

I really need to learn more about the feature of CP... That is the third time I have made a suggestion that is already in place.

Give anyone who has posted a reply and gained a favorable vote permission to modify it.
(If the advantages of such a system aren't immediately obvious, then please ignore this post completely - i may well be full of it)

As long as the modified code is kept separate from the author's code, AND the author's code is still linked to the article.
I can just see someone posting a comment that gets a favorable rating, and then converting the article's code to VB.

The advantage of a wiki is that there's a history, and you can go in and correct things like that...

Could you explain a little bit more? You said "forums" not "articles", so how will this wiki-enabled forums work?

Not quite what i'm thinking... I don't honestly think there's much of an advantage to having collaborative editing or history for individual posts.

There used to be some filtering criteria on the Latest Articles page. As a c++ developer, I would always choose to hide vb, c#, .net articles from the list. Has this functionality been moved or removed? Please Please bring it back if it was removed!!

This has been removed this morning due to a load issue. It will be back very soon
