How can I have a delegate or button continue an ongoing process that was stoped. And how do pause a process at a set interval(see below).
for (int i=1; i<=10000; i++)
{
for (int j=1; j<=10; j++)
{
a = a + 1;
}
//Pause process here everytime
//Continue process with button is pressed
}
Thanks in advance

Are you not able to implement with timers or Thrading ?

MessageBox.Show is going to stop the process and it will restart when you close the box.

I already considered sleep, but this won't work I have a timer that needs to start the process at set intervals using a delegate.

so then you should use MessageBox as Christian Graus said
or use timer_tick event intead of for loop

Given:
a textBox1 with a key event
typing in a string and a unicode(i.e letter "a with circumflex") to be inserted whenever a letter "a" is pressed
problem:
after it inserting the letter, it added an extra "a" at the front
and the cursor does not stay at inserted-position. It start at the front
instead.
Expect to be:
get rid of the extra letter and move the keep the cursor at where it perform the inserting process.
I used the remove() but didn't work
my code is as follow. Please help me.
private void keyDown(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs e)
{
int curPos = textBox1.SelectionStart;
if(e.KeyValue.ToString()=="65")
{ char[] unicode = {'\u00E2'};
textBox1.Text = textBox1.Text.Insert(cur,new string(unicode));
}
}

Well, perhaps you need to read the docs. The a has been pressed, and you're not removing it, you're just inserting an extra character. Try the Replace method instead perhaps ?
And, store the cursor pos before and reset it after.

I was wondering if it is possible to embed a string that you could change in an application.
For example:
You have a password you enter to go to the next form. Now you can change this password. Now the original password is stored as a string in the program. When you build the application and someone wants to change the password, can you have the string changed instead of storing the password in a database or a file?

No, you can't, AFAIK. It sure would be messy.

what does AFAIK mean?
Ok I was just wondering, I couldn't find anything on it, and thats probably because no one does it lol.

Maybe you can user CodeDom to generate a dll containing the password dynamically, not very sure though, and can be messy.
Why not use SQLCE instead?
|
|
|
|
|
Do not know much about SQLCE... I know other ways of doing it like encrypting a file and what-not, I was just wondering if what I was talking about was possible
|
|
|
|
|
Not possible if you mean "Self Modifying Code" in the era of DOS, where the exe can make modification to itself.
But I think it is possible if you talk about the exe generate a dll, then the exe load the dll and access the password.
Another way is to encrypt and put it in the Settings of the application.

|
|
|
|
Alright, thanks guys for the quick response!
|
|
|
|
|
Why don't you store it in a separate file? When you want to change it, simply rewrite the contents of the file.
Obviously, the password has to be encrypted.
Cheers,
Vikram.

All C# programmers at the CodeProject, I am writing a compiled research report for my High School Senior Research Skills class and I am conducting a survey of various C# aspects. If anyone would be willing to answer 10 questions about C# it would be much appreciated. I need as many responses as possible to get a good well rounded look of programmers' opinions. I do apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum due to this not being a programming question.
Compiled Research Report:C# Programming Survey
1. Is C# your preferred programming language? Why?
2. What is your favorite C# language feature? (Anonymous Methods, Lambda Expressions, LINQ, Automatic Properties, etc)
3. Do you believe C# has the feature set necessary to handle the future of programming in the real world? Explain
4. What language were you using before or are currently using with C#?
5. Are their any flaws that you can see in the C# language?
6. Have you or are currently using the MONO framework with C# to make your applications cross-platform?
7. With regards to programming in general (not just C#), how important is it to stay up to date in the programming industry?
8. Is Microsoft doing all that it can for marketing the C# language or the Visual Studio suite? (your personal opinion)
9. If you could add one feature to the C# language what would it be?
10. What do you use for most of your programming environments with regards to the IDE? (Visual Studio, Notepad, Notepad++, etc)
According to the rubric for this assignment, I need a minimum of 15 completed surveys.
Thanks,
Thomas Stockwell

I use C#, what's VC# ?
|
|
|
|
|
The full name is Visual C# which can then be abbreviated to: C# or VC#.
Same way with the other languages
Visual C++, VC++, C++
Visual Basic, VB, Basic
Visual J#, VJ#, J#

No, there is only C#; you may choose to use Visual Studio as your IDE (or C# Builder or Notepad), but that has no effect on the name of the language.
|
|
|
|
|
Either way, the point of this post was to conduct a survey on the C# language.

Thomas Stockwell
