Hi,
I have developed a website and deployed it in a remote server.
When i access the site through http://localhost, the site works very well.
But when i give the ip address instead of localhost, i get a 404 page not found error message. The same site worked well when accessed through ip in my Testing environment.
I am using framework 2.0. Any ideas?

Your question has nothing to do with ASP.NET.
It is SQL-related, so it belongs in the SQL forum.

Hello all!
I've been folowing Scott Guthries MVC Blog[^] and I'm having some issues getting it to work.
I've implemented it using a SQL Server database, which is an asp.net roles/membership implementation with some other tables added in for Products, Categories etc.
My problem is on the View page and the Code behind. When I place a asp:ListView control (with ID="categoryList") on the page (by code not dragging and dropping in the Design pane) and then switch to the code behind page, I get no IntelliSense type ahead on the ListView control to do the databinding. If I type the control name and binding lines, ie
public void Page_Load()
{
categoryList.DataSource= ViewData;
categoryList.DataBind();
}
and attempt to build the project it tells me the categoryList control doesn't exist in the context.
I've tried removing the Page_Load() section, building the project and then re-entering but to no effect. I'm sure it's going to be a silly mistake I've made. Any suggestions?
Brian

Well i found the problem, or at least a fix for it. Have got tons of other issues now of course!
In the code behind I added
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListView categoryList;
in the partial class and it fixed it.

hi all... i have been working on an idea that stems from my knowledge of application design and development. I have been developing an application which allows end-users use to drag & drop elements and set properties on a design canvas to create a diagram which will (once completed) be used to generate asp.net application code.
users can use my application to build simple forms or webbased applications and will eventually enable them to create quite complex systems by piecing together "sub-diagrams".
the elements are broken down into logical objects like: eshop, user, data (order, product, etc), country list, etc... and the user can connect them up (using fully rule based connections).
just imagine my application being similar to creating a visio diagram with elements having properties and wizards to define their use. then at the end it generates application code and compiles it to create a fully functional application. or alternatively the my application just creates source-code from the diagram so developers can further customize it.
anyway, my question is, now that i have created a very functional prototype which works pretty well, i need to ask all of you for your opionion on whether the concept is viable? would people use it? are there complexities i might have forgotten about? I plan to provide it for free as it will be more of a labour of love and hope to get other developers onboard for future enhancements.

Yes, people will use it, and people already do. Just the other day someone was posting about how they found out an old employee used code generators. I have used code generators for CSS. It isn't worth the manual labor required to do what can take seconds.

Hi,
i have one problem. I create web site in VS.2008 on .NET 3.5. On my parent page i have iframe which source attribute src i populate dinamically in code behind :
HtmlControl frame1 = (HtmlControl)this.FindControl("ifrCache");
frame1.Attributes["src"] = "form.aspx?form=" + formID;
Iframe source is child page who have input text field.
Is there any way to get value of input text fields on parent page from iframe source page?
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, you can access the controls on the IFrame page just like you did with this:
c#ivan wrote: HtmlControl frame1 = (HtmlControl)this.FindControl("ifrCache");
You have to do it on the IFrame Document though, but same idea.

Another problem is that HtmlControl frame1 = (HtmlControl)this.FindControl("ifrCache");
return null but i add runat=server to ifrCache so i can use it like server control and it works. The same problem still persists. I do not know how to access to controls in iframe? Is it javascript solution?

In the rowEditing and rowUpdating events, call the function which will load your grid.
In your above example, after setting the newEditIndex, you need to load your grid again.

How can I do that? Please let me know little more detail.

Assume the following is your gridview rowediting event
private sub gridview_rowediting()
'this will be your code.
gridview.editindex = e.neweditindex();
'call the function which loads your data - see be low
loadData()
end sub
'This is the function which loads data in your grid.
private sub loadData()
query = "select * from ..."
.
.
.
gridview.datasource = dataTable
gridview.databind()
end sub

Set AutoPostback=true
You'd do better IMO to write javascript to do this, so that there's no need for a postback.

Is it possible to read the sessions data from any active session in my server??
Ill have an online support chatroom
Customers will place items on their "shopping cart" which will be stored in session until they choose to submit it
In order to help them, i migh need to read their shopping cart from their session
Is this possible or do i have to save their shopping cart to the DB?
Ill appeciate any feedback
Thanks in advance

If you're using SQL Server to store session state, then it's probably possible. But, you'd have to work out the clients session Id to do it, I think it would be easier just to store the data in your DB.
you expect to have to provide support for a shopping cart ?

I meant that ill need to see whats on their shopping cart to help them without asking them for the products they have on the shopping cart
Thanks
