How do you mean the focus is set on one of the fields?
Do you want the user to be able to click on a row and then go to another page with those details?

No the field is in the same page as the datagrid
but the datagrid has to display 10 records per page, which occupy most of the page.
so the user needs to scroll down to read the details
I need to have that done automatically on the selectedIndexChange event of the datagrid

ah rite so they click on a link and it takes them down to the next part of the page?
is that right
normally with a hyperlink you would put a # on the end then put a div and name that # i think

It works but ....
I used Response.Redirect() to achive your idea but the Redirect method resets the selection
Any altrnative to Response.Redirect() ?

I need to check that gridview is empty.
so I use
if(gridview1.Rows.Count==0)
{
Button1.Visible=fase;
}
But this never works coz it seems that the gridview has rows.
I'm using the emptytemplate to be displayed automatically when there is no data returned.
My problem is the I'm using a sql datasource so I have no dataset or datatable to check against if no data is returned.
Help please!

Why not? The gridview doesn't have a datasource property?
only two letters away from being an asset

use emptytemplate

can you write the exact code to use the emptytemplate?

if (gridview.EmptyDataTemplate == true)
maybe this

Why are you using gridview1 and button1 as variable names ? This isn't real world code, you're just playing about ?

That stuff is nasty to begin with.

I'm actually using other variable names, these names are only to point out my problem. Do you have a solution for my problem?

Hi Friends,
I have a GridView in which the row or the data is getting selected on the checkbox click.
I want to enable paging in the GridView such that when i go to next page then the previuos selection
remains as it is...means i can perform operations on current selection as well as previous selection.
Do anyone have any idea?
Thanks in advance,
|
|
|

I'm not sure if you can do that
Paging is a custom tool for asp.net and therefore may be hard to manipulate
Can you explain a bit more about what the problem is, might be able to think of another solution

yeah sure!
I have GridView, in which there is a checkbox control on teh selection of which i performs some operations like download the data etc.
Now i ahve a no. fo records in the GridView and I want to do paging,
and if i select 1 and 3 records on page 1 by checking the checkbox and goes to page2
and select record say 8 and 9 from page to and I click the download button
It should download records 8 and 9 as well as 1 and 3 which are from teh previous selection.
I do not want to lose the checkbox selection if i navigates from page to apge.....

you could try storing the values in a session, i.e. put the checked rows ID in a session and then when the user clicks the button it then downloads all things that match the row id values

Sorry!
but i m not getting it,can please explain in detail
see I am nto able to do paging,since i m binding the GridVeiw manually
like gdview.datasource=some dataset
gdview.databind()
now the code in PageIndexChanging is
protected void gdview_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
{
gdview.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex + 1;
gdview.DataBind();
}
now when i run teh app. and go to page 2 on GridVeiw it doesn't show the next record
and when i debug after placing the breakpoint at
protected void gdview_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
it goes to some Deassembly tab

Ah, the age old classic, on being misunderstood, repeat the same question. You should really have put it in capitals to grind it into the reader's brain.

yes I think this person needs to explain a bit more what their problem is

If you mean, how can you use C# and VB.NET in the same web app, you can mix languages between pages, but not in the code behind. Either way, I would suggest you do some basic reading, because you appear not to know enough about the topic at hand to ask a question that makes sense.
C and C# are two different things.
