To be honestly, I don't like any datasource controls like (SQLDataSource,ObjectDataSource). I prefer to write my own code to handle databinding. It gives more flexibility to me.
I know most of the professionals like to follow the traditional way. It is more flexible but it is time consuming. Isn’t it?

Yes, it is. But it's negligible as your application is getting a good architecture.
Ok ok
You talk about the good architecture. Let me ask one question here. Suppose you have a “price” field with the “decimal” data type in your database. Now you are writing a function to save data to this table. This function receives values for insert as parameters and calls a stored procedure. Is there problem that pass the “price” as string into this functions? I mean any performance problem or something like that?

Nope, there won't be any performance problem. But since you know the price field can contain only “decimal” values, why to use string for parameter ?
It is because, usually user input price in a text box. So if I write a function with a decimal parameter, I have to cast the textbox output. Since both method gives same result I thought to avoid this casting.
But if you declare the parameter as string, you need to cast it before you update database. In both ways you are doing casting.
The stored procedure parameter is decimal type. But sqlparameter class will receive parameter value as “object”. So I didn’t do anything for casting. I don’t know what will happen in ADO.NET

No you can't because this would constitute a serious security breach if you could. Why would you want to anyway? If the user has chosen to block popups, then why do you think you have the right to try to turn it off.

Hi all
I need to send a clickable link by mail to a user
I am able to send the amil with the link, but i had to generate the url like:
"http://" & Request.Url.Host & ResolveUrl("MyPage.aspx")
Is there an easier and better way to get the whole url for any resource on my site?
Thanks

I am working on a project in visual studio 2005 and am getting the following errors:
1) template.master cannot be processed because the code directory has not yet been built. I get this error when going to an .aspx file. I do have the template.master file in the root directory.
2) A skinID has been specified but the page is not configured to use a page theme or style sheet theme. Under app_theme I have a folder named basic which has 2 files(basic.skin and default.css)
Please Help!

One thing that causes this message, and is easy to fix, is the omission of a particular SkinID from a theme set.
If you are using one theme, and you add a skin to the Controls.skins file, and then use it on a control, and then switch themes, you would expect to get a message like "This skin is not defined" or some such.
Instead, you get "the page is not configured to use a page them" etc etc etc.
One way to tell that this might be the case is to look at another control on the same page that also uses a skin. If you do not have that underline and the error message, then clearly the page actually is configured to use themes and skins. Just copy the skin from Controls.skins in the one theme to any other themes in APP_Themes directory.

I'm not sure just yet what is causing this problem for both of us but, I can tell you as soon as i deleted the web.config file it went away. this leads me to believe it's somewhere in the web.config. good luck to both of us. when I find out more i'll post it. later gator

I am creating mdb file using ASP.Net.
it gives error that unrecognised database format and path of that mdb file.
Here is the code.
Dim File_Path As String
Dim fStream As New FileStream(File_Path, FileMode.Create,FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.ReadWrite, 4096)
fStream.Close()
fStream.Dispose()
Dim Access_ConnStr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + File_Path
Dim Access_Conn As Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection
Access_Conn = New Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(Access_ConnStr)
Access_Conn.Open()
When Access_Conn.Open() get executed then the error comes.
