F11 doesnt maximise the window on my computer. Relying on this may be a mistake
I would be very surprised if you could send fake keyboard presses from inside a browser - think of the mischief you could cause by having a script automatically close down your machine.

I have on one machine local web application configured to a path C:\my application\app1 This is configured as "App1". An old copy of the application resides in C:\my applications\app2 and it is configured as "App2"
In all the machines the name of App2 is used except on this machine. So, I decided to bring this machine to par. Deleted both App1 and App2 from IIS and added C:\my application\app1 as "App2"
But the issue is IIS does not seems to get the change and still thinks this is App1. If I type http://localhost/app1 I get into the application even though it is configured as App2. Where as http://localhost/app2 does not work. I get 404 error.
So, when I delete a site from IIS is there any other clean up I need to do? Simply deleting the virtual directory does not to work.
I have restarted IIS and rebooted the machine several times. It did not make any difference.
Is the original App1 still cached in IIS? Shouldn't this get wiped out when IIS restarts?

Hi yousuf,
looks very strange. don't know how you done - Deleted both App1 and App2 from IIS and added C:\my application\app1 as "App2"
can you give a try in this way - go to IIS and properties of your web application. under the Directory tab see the radio "The designated Directory" is selected and under application settings Remove and re-create your web application.

Hi,
I'm looking for some good reference material on CSS. Looking around there seems to be hundreds of books and I have no idea if any of them are any good. I have a basic idea on how style sheets work and I use a few styles here and there but my CSS skills have never really been any good and I need some help. Currently, I'm developing a website in ASP 2.0. The pages look ok in IE 7, but really lousy in Firefox.
Anyone have any book recommendations? Failing that, does anyone know where I can find some useful info on the web?
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Friends,
This is Ashrith.
I have developed a web application.
The application works perfectly on my local machine.
But when I host the application on my domain space, I find the following problems with it:
1. Cannot be able to register.
When I try to register on the site, the same page is being shown.
2. Content not written to XML file.
I have some content in the database which should be written to an XML file when my website is visited and the same is displayed to the user.
What might be the problem?
Please help me.
Thanks in Advance.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here. We don't know what you mean by 'register' or 'the same page is being shown'. Please elaborate more, with such as an error message (if there is one), or more relevant details.

Perhaps no write permissions are specified on the directory that the file is being written to.

I am looking to add a chat service to my website. I have read that there are 2 differnt ways of doing this. 1: The traditional way of polling the web server for new messages using ajax.
2: The comet way of connecting to the server using ajax and never closing the connection so the server can push messages to the client.
My questions are about the difference in preformance and are there any differences in the bandwidth usage? Basically which is the best way.

Thanks for the reply, I have seen other places that pushing is better than pulling but only if your server can handle the connections of multiple users. I also heard that the client can only have 2 open http conections. I dont know what that means interms of preformance. I hope there is someone who has more knowledge on this subject.

Well that page says
Several such techniques exist, with various trade-offs in terms of browser support and side effects, latency, and throughput.
and then goes on to discuss aspects of a whole bunch of approaches with some quotes from various people like:
Comet is a giant hack. Even when it works flawlessly and efficiently, bringing us real-time interactive applications, deftly weaving around firewalls and browsers, avoiding unfriendly side effects, and cutting latency to near zero, it does so using mechanisms unforeseen by browser vendors, and unspecified by web standards. ”
—Jacob Rus
I don't know why you would be resistant to reading the page given your stated question.

Hi all,
I appologize if this is not an appropriate place to ask, but I would
appreciate if someone could help me with the following issue.
I am trying to find out what is an "HTTP Location Header", but without
success for a long time already. Can anyone clarify me what it is, or
point to a good tutorial about HTTP protocol on the internet that may
have information about this?
Thank you in advance.
