Hi,
I am very new to C# development and I am using VS2005
I want to write small module for my company that send XML data to a gateway (Asp page) and get the response in XML format
I have to send the data (requesting) in XML format to a web site and need to get the response for the request
First I tried with Webclient (System.Net.WebClient) with following codes
[C#]
Client.UploadFile("http://sample_site/upload.aspx", @"C://Regsitering_Data.xml");
Client.DownloadFile("http://sample_site/downloaddata.aspx","C:\\Responses.asp")
[/C#]
However, this way I managed to post the data. I checked with the gateway people and they confirmed that my request is correct and the webservice has sent the response correctly. However I am not able to get the response from there. I am getting Error as results
I know that I am doing wrong. I tried with HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse, but I dont know how to post XML data into the with using
HttpWebRequest
Please help me on this.

And what error are you getting?

I am not getting any error from .Net framework. I am getting the error message from their gateway. Message is "you sent a empty message body to gateway". This is the error that we use to receive when we just typed the response URL in internet explorer/Fire3fox
I checked with them and they said that my request reached successfully and the gateway sent the Unique message Id as a response in XML format. But I am not getting this response
I am feeling that downloaddata method is not for getting response for a request. However I am not sure on this. This is the first time I am trying to send a data to a web site (Webservice)
I searched in google and all are recommending to use webrequest and webresponse methods, but I dont know how to use these methoids when I want to send data in XML format
Please help me. Please let me know you need more information and my code for this---

Any way you like; as long as you're reinventing that wheel you may as well start fresh.

I won't tell you EXACTLY, but you can have a text box that when you hit a button submits it automatically to GOOGLE. I don't know how to automatically send it to GOOGLE, that would take me a bit of time (which I have little of) and work. Mabye automatically send a URL with the search. I quick google and then look at the URL.
I would GOOGLE "Test" and then when the user hits the button it replaces the part of the URL with TEST with their search. Don't forget to see what the URL becomes with a space included. (It replaces the space with a + sign" Eventually you will wanna include "" marks the -TEST function and so on.

You can submit your query to google using following link
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=YOURKEYWORDSGOHERE&btnG=Search&meta=
And this is the easiest thing to do!

1 - C#.NET is not a reasonable subject line. Try reading the sticky post on how best to ask questions
2 - no, you're not. You're putting IE on a form.

Hi all,
I created an ASP.Net website in C# targeted to industrial terminals (Symbol, Psion) in order to give them limited access to some of the functionalities of our application. The web browser on these devices being very limited we had to find trick but in the end it works just fine. However, there is a big problem in that the loading of pages is very slow. That comes from the fact that these devices have quite a limited computing power and as such they take time analyzing and displaying the pages.
Creating a full blown Winforms application in C# has at least two main disadvantages that we want to avoid:
Must bring back all the terminals for an upload for each update
Big risk of forgetting an update on one of the devices which might lead to data corruption created by out of date applications.
This is why the idea of creating an ActiveX in C# came to us. Indeed, with that we combine the advantage of an update forced by the web server with the complete execution on the client thus eliminating the reload of pages.
The choice of C# as a language is also there to take advantage of the existing development and thus avoid a complete rewrite. Furthermore, the use of ActiveX occurred to us as this is a technology we already know but if there is something better in the compact framework, we are more than inclined to use it.
I did some research here and in google but I did not find any concrete example especially because I want to be able to use the visual designer to create my control. Placing the child controls by hand via code is not very attractive.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Olivier

I think question would be better asked in the Mobile Development forum, don't you?
only two letters away from being an asset
|
|
|
|
|
Well, I wondered that as well and decided in the end to post it here because the usage of a proposed solution would not be limited to mobile devices.
But if you think I should move the question over there, then please let me know how I should proceed.

I am not sure how to handle this and could not find a good example or information on how to do this... I am stuck with how to handle outPropertyDesc. Trying to detrmine the AE_Mode camera is set to which I know is (public const uint AEMode_Manual = 3). I have tried several things and just do not know if I am close or just way off. I appreciate any help...
I have the following:
[DllImport("EDSDK.dll")]
public extern static uint EdsGetPropertyDesc(IntPtr inRef, uint inPropertyID,
out EdsPropertyDesc outPropertyDesc);
[StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)]
public struct EdsPropertyDesc
{
public int Form;// Int32 reserved always 0
public uint Access; // reserved always 0 (see below)
public int NumElements; //Int32[] a property data array. The meaning varies depending on the property type
[MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.ByValArray, SizeConst = 128)]
public int[] PropDesc;
}
//
public enum Access : uint
{
Read = 0,
Write,
ReadWrite,
Error = 0xFFFFFFFF,
}
// AEMODE
public const uint AEMode_Program = 0;
public const uint AEMode_Tv = 1;
public const uint AEMode_Av = 2;
public const uint AEMode_Manual = 3;
public const uint AEMode_Bulb = 4;
public const uint AEMode_A_DEP = 5;
public const uint AEMode_DEP = 6;
public const uint AEMode_Custom = 7;
public const uint AEMode_Lock = 8;
public const uint AEMode_Green = 9;
public const uint AEMode_NigntPortrait = 10;
public const uint AEMode_Sports = 11;
public const uint AEMode_Portrait = 12;
public const uint AEMode_Landscape = 13;
public const uint AEMode_Closeup = 14;
public const uint AEMode_FlashOff = 15;
public const uint AEMode_Unknown = 0xffffffff;

hey guys
i was just wondering if the is a DateChangedEvent some where in .net
what i need to do is check if the date is the 1st of the month
if it is i must write the contents of a log table in my database to a flat file for archiving and then clear the table
i was thinking of using a timer to do it but the following just looks wrong...
timer.Interval = 864000000; i dont think so...
any ideas for a more efficient solution?
thanx

I presume this is in some very long running process? Normally you'd use some sort of Schedular such as the Windows one to do stuff like this.
I don't think there is any such event as standard in .NET. You could create a class that generates one though. I'd check every minute or something like that for when the date is different to date last time and date.Day == 1.

Rob Philpott.

Rob Philpott wrote: I'd check every minute
that wont work either because then it would to the archiving procedure would execute every minute
