I am using NVidia video splitter card to split my windows XP on dual monitors. In configuration I set monitor as primary (left) and the other secondary (right), where I am displaying the windows desktop icons on the secondary monitor and taskbar is limited to the primary monitor.
Now I am running my custom applications, where the applications are choosing where to show on their own - some moving to primary and some to secondary, I want to control the application display.
If someone knows how to do it, appreciated.
Thanks.
The Phantom.

Are you wanting to do this with code or just have them be in the right monitor when they open?
If it's the latter simply move them to the monitor you want them in by dragging and when you close them they will save that position for when you reopen them. ATI video cards come with Hydravision and it lets you do some pretty cool stuff to your windows and it has support for [SETTING] windows position and keeping it there.
Nice product and free.

It's amazing what you can find with a little application of Google. how about asking a Cabling System company, such as Corning Cable Systems[^], what would be appropriate for your situation and requirements.

Dear David,
The RJ21 is sufficient for 25 pair cable, but the cable am using is 50 pairs.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance.

2 x RJ21 ?
Well, if you don't want to untwist the pairs that far, you could always crimp or solder them. Use insulated crimps and/or heat-shrink tubing, and you can then bunch them back together. If you need to undo the connection in the future, why not use 2 of the connectors mentioned above? Label them (1-25) and (26-50).
(The only "tutorial" I could find quickly)

Unless you're VERY familiar with how the Windows Device Manager works, Plug'n'Play, writing device drivers, debugging in kernel mode, ... I'd suggest picking a simpler project. That "no Win API" statement you made pretty much kills any chance you thought you had of completing this project.

Hi. I'm posting this here as I think my problem may be HW related.
I'm running an XP machine and I'm getting an unusual error when I try to copy large (relative, I know, but like 100+ Mb). It's an error message that seems out of ordinary.
I switch hard drives on my machine and try again - same freaky error?
Has anyone encountered? Possible troubleshooting tips you can offer?
Thanks,
Johnny

Is the drive FAT, FAT32 or NTFS? FAT and FAT32 have file size limitations and you may be hitting that although 100 meg files are not going to hit that limit.
Couple other things.
1. You don't have tons of system memory and your page file is corrupt/fragmented or too small.
2. You don't have enough free disk space on the drive that has your page file.
3. Your page file isn't large enough and is not set to allow for it to grow as needed.
4. The file itself may have corruption. Can you try copying it somewhere else and see if it works?
What's in the event log after you get the error during copy? What are you using to copy? Have you tried the comand line (xcopy)? Have you tried SynbackSE the free edition?
Lots and lots of possibilities here for problems and solutions.
Check out the things I mention and then reply with as much information as possible. It would be nice to know what the error is. Telling me 'freaky error' doesn't produce a lot of hits for me on google.

Thanks for the suggestions. As sometimes the case, I was unable to reproduce the error (that my collegues reported.)
I copied a 300Mb video file and then a 1.5Gb video file, using the GUI's drag/drop and also Copy/Paste.
I also tried the "DOS" xcopy which was cool. I tried copying a DVD's .VOB file (since it was huge) and the Windows Explorer just gave some cryptic error message and failure number.
So then I tried xcopy and it reported problem was related to "Copy Protection", which is understandable.
Thanks for the help.

WHAT IS THE ACTUAL ERROR MESSAGE!!!!!!
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop.

Yeah, I know I was sort of vague on that error message.
I'll have to get back to my system and troubleshoot again w suggested advice.
Thanks.

Ok.. here's the situation....
I recently purchased a
Plantronics Calisto Pro.
One of the nice features of this headset is that it can be used with VOIP services like Skype. Basically, you run a small program called PerSonoCall and it looks for incomming Skype calls. If it detects one, it enables the phone (treated as a USB audio device) and you can hear audio over the headset and speak using the mic. I want to enable the headset anytime I want so I can use it for non VOIP apps. There's no way to do this via PerSonoCall. Just as a test, I played a music file in Winamp and then ran a Skype test call to activate the headset...
Sure enough, I could hear my audio in the headset which tells me... all I need to do is figure out how PerSonoCall enables the device.
The app itself is pretty small (640k) so there can be much magic to it.
When I plug in the unit (USB) I see 3 things pop-up in my system:
USB Audio Device
HID Compliant Device
USB Human Interface Device
The HID stuff is probably related to the keypad? (not interested in getting data from that)
How should I approach this? Try to reverse engineer the PerSonoCall.exe?
Snoop the USB port to see what's being sent to the unit?
Or perhaps there's a standard API way to enabling a USB audio device?
Thanks for any insight...

Hello every body
can you recommend some best HardLock and exe protector?
|
|
|
|
|
The first thing that comes to mind is that you should probably avoid the big well known exe protectors, as these tend to be the first cracked.
Ive used TeLock a few times, good compression and obscurity, but no idea on how hard it is to crack. I also tried Yoda's protector once..
I am quite interested to see what protectors other people will suggest.
What do you mean with HardLock?
