There is no Web Service in case 1.
There is a web server. And if you are asking what method of communication, then the answer is GET/POST methods..

Sorry, I meant to write web server.
som.nitk wrote: And if you are asking what method of communication, then the answer is GET/POST methods.
Then there isn't very much difference between the cases, really. A webservice also uses the POST method.
The web service approach adds a framework with a bit more structure for the communication. You get a clear specification of the methods that you expose, and different data types are handled automatically.

So which of these is better?
1. Just the communication if client with web server.
2. The client communicates with Web Service and it communicates with Web Server.

It doesn't work that way. The web service is a part of the web server, exactly as a web page. A web service actually works just as a web page, there is only a difference in how the data is formatted.

Hi,
I have a web service I created and uploaded to my server. In another project (output type .dll) I added a reference to the service via "Add Web Reference..." dialog. All seemed fine at first. A file called Reference.cs is added under the web reference node, and when I look at it, this looks just like the proxy class that is needed. The Build Action associated with this file is "Compile." I am also able to use intellisense to get access to the created proxy class, and when I load the .dll from another project in the same solution through the debugger, everything works fine.
However, when I copy the files from my bin\Release\ to another folder (and also calling the .dll from a separate solution altogether), I get an exception :
"System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Trading.BrokerProxy.net.sbjgroup.CustomerMgmtSvc' from assembly 'SBJCharts, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'..."
(where Trading.BrokerProxy.net.sbjgroup.CustomerMgmtSvc is the proxy class)
The other part of all of this, is that if I generate the proxy class via wsdl.exe and add the output to my project...at that point all works as expected (after I also remove the WebReference).
I'd really like to figure out what's going on here, as it would be much simpler just to add the WebReference and then everything works as expected.
Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, ASP.NET actually builds the stuff in the Web References directory at run-time. Not sure how that works for non-ASP.NET projects.
You might get more help by asking in the C#, .NET, or ASP.NET forums - those folks are old pros at this crazy stuff.

Yes, that's what I had read also and I'd figured other project types would do the same, so I was surprised at the runtime exception...
I think maybe I'll try the .NET forum...this problem is hard to classify.

I am trying to find out if there is a code that could monitor (and read) packets going out and coming to a client program that communicates with a server program, such as in Instant Messaging programs that talk to a server.
Any help would be appreciated

Hello Guys,
I'm Working on this graduation project , a whole system that a cafe uses such that it provides services to the clients , who could operate on their own lapTops ,Mobiles or any applicable embedded device. The point is What services could the system "a server" provide for the clients, I though about:
1)Interaction between the users , like chatting communicating , using bluetooth and wireless technology
2)organizing a challenge "a game for example" and those who win get a $100 credit for drinks.
3)a profile for each user , which he could use privately , and a wiki for public use.
and so On
So i need Innovative ideas , could anyOne inspire me,
Thnx Guys In advance

Ok well I'm not one for coffee shop ideas but an open user review system would be cool. What did everyone else think of the pie? Really? 4/5... Maybe I'll try it!

How could the bandwidth offered by the server space affect the application hosted in it?
|
|
|
|
|
Assuming you are asking how bandwidth affects an application it would restrict the amount of data you can transfer at any one time. This influences the type of data you can send/receive and how many users you can have.
If that's not the answer you were looking for please clarify.

Thank you Brad
What I thought about bandwidth was that it would restrict the ammount of data during a period of time, say one month. What you are saying that it is the ammount of data that can be transfered at any point of time. Is it?
Could you check the following link:
http://domains.hostingsmart.in/content.php?action=mypages&page=winvalueplans.html[^]
It shows the bandwidth per month. What does that mean? For Starter Plan 1 the available bandwidth for a month is 50MB. Does each visit to a web page by each user reduces MB from this available bandwidth for a month? How can you find out a visit to a webpage cost in bandwidth(MB)? Will saving it as webpage into our local machine and finding its size(both file and the folder that come along with it) show it?
|
|

Ok the web host there has misused the term bandwidth. They are actually referring to the transfer you will get each month (sometimes referred to as xfer). This means that each month you can transfer 50mb of data to your users. This is a very, VERY small amount and would not be sufficient for the majority of websites.
I would advise against using that host.

You mean the download that happens while they(users) visit the pages or any other data transfer? Or users means the persons who upload/download the files to the webspace?
|
|
|

It means users of your website.

Everything is included. You uploading files, users viewing html, everything. 50 MB is too small as suggested earlier. There are many hosting providers who give much larger transfers at very low rates.

Hello All,
I am implementing Soap-with-Attachments(sWA) utility for my project. For implementing Signature for sWA, first of all it is required to canonicalize the Mime header/Mime Content. I am stuck here . If some body has implemented or has any reference on this please let me know.
Thanks

Hi,
I am developing a web app using C#, asp.net and vs 2003 but i am having trouble trying to upload a directory of images using a single FileUpload control to select the first file and then loop through files in directory but i have discovered this only saves the first file x many times. So i am just wondering if anyone knows any way to do this, any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Most, if not all, current web browsers only support uploading one file per <input type="file"> element. You don't get to iterate through a directory or anything like that, since that would give malicious pages opportunity to access files the user did not actually intend for you to have.
