Hi Chris,
I don't mind you send French e-mails to French speaking people in France, in Belgium,
where ever you like. Dito for Spanish, Italian, German, etc. I do not suggest you narrow
everything down to English, some will see that as Anglo-Imperialism; and not all your
sponsors may agree with it either.
I do suggest you take cultural differences into account and let people opt-in for the
language choices. Having the site based on ASP.NET should make that easy...
Greetings,

Well, good luck for Belgium then
For example, both Luc and I come from Belgium but he speaks dutch and I speak french. There are 3 official languages in Belgium (ok, very few people speak german, so chances to have a german speaking belgian on CP is very low).
Same for Switzerland, they also have several languages.

Have been unable to alter some of the items on the 'My Settings' page. In particular I wanted to change my signature but the change does not appear to stick. I have made the change, saved and then navigated away and back again and the data appears to have reverted. I also made the change, saved, signed out, cleared the cache and re-entered with the same result.

I have something similar - when I try to change options, I get an error about how my username is already in use!
Peace!

Reading and navigating in forums very quick however when I post a *new* message there is what feels like a 15-30 second delay before the post is complete and the page reloads showing my post. Updating an existing message as I'm doing right now takes the more normal 2-5 seconds.

Sounds like it's an index write issue. I'll check

Yikes! The delay has increased substantially...do the opposite of what you just did.
Whoops! I take that back, this post only took 10 seconds, but the one in the lounge just took 30. Maybe different message boards are taking different amounts of time, indexes sounds about right, the lounge is pretty "heavy" I'm sure.

Turns out it was 0 disk space on one of the servers. So much for our monitoring systems...

I think it could be a good idea to create a new message board, dedicated to Direct X, XNA and Open gl (Game programming, 2d/3d graphics)
What do you guys think of this idea?

I love the site, and as a software developer, there is a wealth of information and support here.
But I also deal with reporting, and there seems to be no support for reporting here.
I would like to see a reporting forum, or maybe even a business intelligence forum.
Anyone agree?

We've got the SQL Reporting Services[^] section but no forum yet. We'll look to see if there's enough interest to add one.

hi,
first of all, i should say after 4 year of .net programing, my first place to look for a unknown issue is codeproject.com.Thanks guys.
BTW, i have so many bookmarks and most of the time, instead of looking for it in my bookmarks, i prefer searching entire site. The guys at codeproject have categorized the bookmarks, but it does not help anyway, especially when you see that C# appears in for example page 1 and 5! what i need is being able to search my bookmarks and find what i know have bookmarked sometimes in the past or at least see all articles of a category in a single page or in paged manner not in far separate pages!
And finally one another thing! when we all know that codeproject is the best place for MS development, why say something that looks a bit like ... . just look at the left corner and will see ( XXXX members and GROWING! ( !!!!! ) ) .I think it is for early days of codeproject but for now, i do not see any need for such a selfish thing.
Ok, let's stop annoying. Codeproject is still the best development place for all developers of Microsoft. Thanks for your great job.
sincerely,
Behzad

Behzad Sedighzadeh,
The request for searching for bookmarks have been made already a couple of times. We understand that this will be very useful feature for the comunity,
and so it is added to our TODO list.

Can we please configure whether or not we receive notifications of rants, because I like to respond occasionally to rants that branch from something I was saying or at least be informed of what the user is saying. I also don't always have time to watch all my threads on the site just due to work so it would be great if you could implement this feature.
What do you mean a senior programmer who writes white papers on operating software effectively didn't think to check the spam filter?

I love the new Rant option. If people use it wisely, I'll be able to ignore rants in complete peace now.

What's behind the purge of roughly half the forums from the 3 column table at the top of most of the fora?
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop.

A bug. We did a fairly massive reworking of our attribution system over the last 2 weeks and it looks like we missed fixing some DB entries.
