Hi there !
I cannot persuade ScriptManager control to switch MicrosoftAjax js library to the release version when the web.config defines debug=false. Maximum that it can do for me - load both versions simultaniously .
I had to refuse to use the built-in resources because of known bug (http://weblogs.asp.net/bleroy/archive/2007/01/31/how-to-work-around-the-quot-access-denied-quot-cross-domain-frame-issue-in-asp-net-ajax-1-0.aspx[^])
Here is how my ScriptManager control looks like:
<br />
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnablePageMethods="True" EnableViewState="False" ><br />
<Scripts><br />
<asp:ScriptReference Name="MicrosoftAjax.js"<br />
Path="javascript/System.Web.Extensions/1.0.61025.0/MicrosoftAjax.js" /><br />
<asp:ScriptReference Name="MicrosoftAjax.debug.js"<br />
Path="javascript/System.Web.Extensions/1.0.61025.0/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" /><br />
</Scripts><br />
</asp:ScriptManager><br />
I'll be very thankful to anybody that can shed light on this mystery.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gennady

As usual, sending question I continued to think about it. And suddenly I've understand what was my mistake.
I don't need to include both script referencies - only one to release version.
ScriptManager is smart enough to add "debug" to the name and key, if in debug mode.
Sorry.

Gennady

Hi guys
I have use the normal of creating the css. However in the design of the asp.net, it can't detect the CSS. class style when i written in the HTML code.
For example my CSS is in a css folder
then css is like
body{
font color:blue;
}
.text{
font color:black;
}
then in my design page where html is
i import the css file href="css/filename.css"
and then
code in
<span style="text">testing</span>
the text doest not work it only follow the body class but can't detect .text class

Perhaps then, you intended to use the class attribute rather than the style attribute...

<span class="text">testing</span>
style is used to define css attributes...but a CSS class must be called using class not by style

Hi,
I am not sure whether it is the right forum to ask classic ASP questions. Please correct me if I am in the wrong place.
I am working on a project written in classic asp script. It is using AspSimpleUpload component to upload files on the server. I also have a control in the form with "multiple" enabled.
The problem I am facing is when user clicks on submit button, I want to fetch each selected item from "" control, it always returns the top most item from the selected items.
The code I am trying is....
----------------------------------------------------------
Set Upload = Server.CreateObject("ASPSimpleUpload.Upload")
arr=split(Upload.form("Preferred_Location"), ",") <-- preferred_location is the select control
for each item in arr
response.write(item)
next
----------------------------------------------------------
But above code always returns the top most item from the multiple selected items.
What should I do now...?

It isn't. We're all thoroughly sick of ASP.
You could try the ASP.NET forum, but no promises.

Read the first message in the forum titled "How to get an Answer to your Question", pay attention to item #2

then you should be a student, studying computer science and programming topics, not trying to develop production software. See the way it works is you are a student for a few years then you work under the supervision of one or more experienced developers for another year or two where you learn how to develop applications. You don't just decide you're going to develop software and then start doing it.
Does that help?

Doesn't your school curriculum or instructors help guide you on things like that? What, they just throw some requirements at you and say good luck? That's not much of a learning environment, sounds more like business SOP to me.

The problem with many of the small computer institutes in India is that the trainers are themselves less trained or just-grads with no-better experience. Hence the guidance is less for these folks.

What XML? The xml response from the soap service? How can you get the response prior to sending the request?

I have one web based application. Assume it's URL is www.xx.com. It accepts some information like Name, Address, SSN. I am also using one third party web based application, say www.yy.com. The data entered in www.xx.com gets stored in my application. After saving it, I have to enter the same data on www.yy.com to get the more information about the person. I don't want to enter the same infomration in my web application i.e. www.xx.com and again enter it in www.yy.com. Is it possible that whatever data is entered in www.xx.com, will automatically get entered in the text boxes of www.yy.com using javascript or any other technique?
Thanks in advance.

Sure, try the Google Toolbar or one of the many other utilities for automatically filling in forms.

I need to present data with the following structure:
+-------+--------+-----+-----+------------+
| Kalle | Anka | 1 | A | Ankeborg |
| | | 2 | B | |
| | | 3 | C | |
+-------+--------+-----+-----+------------+
| Arne | Weise | 1 | Y | STockholm |
| | | 2 | X | |
+-------+--------+-----+-----+------------+
What would be the most "correct" way to do this according to html and css standards etc?
It is tabular data but two of the cells contains lists.
My first thought was to simply flatten the data and make a TR for each list element, thus making this made up sample into 5 TR where some of the fields are blank.
But are there other alternatives?
would it be correct to use ul/il elements inside the cells for the lists?
bullet lists with css formatting inside the list cells?

Yes, and this would be the cleanest way.

Hi all,
I am trying to make my image increase or decrease in size depending on the user's screen resolution. I have dimensioned my image using percent signs instead of pixels. However, it did not work and I was wondering if what I'm trying to do is even possible. Please point me to materials that could help me with this if what I am attempting to do is something that can be done, or you can help explain it to me. Thank you in advance for your help.
