time and value, the length of the file is not limited...
i have already got the data from the file, and saved in a vector type struct.(VC++)
now, i dunno how to draw a bar chart by using the data inside the vector
help pls...

You would be having data in your data structure. You can plot one of them on the X-Axis and the other one on Y-Axis. In general time would be on the X-Axis and value would be on the Y-Axis. A value on Y-Axis would be corresponding to a value on X-Axis.

EVC++ is meant for embedded development and VC++ is meant for desktop development.

Yes that is true but you have to realize that since MS has merged EVC with VC comparing them makes sense only for older versions. Last version of EVC was 4.0 and it was released in 2003 i.e. before VC 2005.

In my program I take appropriate values from the user and then click a button to draw a circle on the same dialog box. However if I change the values and then again click the button to draw, my previous circle is erased and the new one is drawn. What I want is for the previous circles to stay there...

You cannot rely on previous drawn circles: you have to store all input values (using arrays, for instance) and draw all the circles each time the OnPaint event handler is called.

Get Ivor Horton's "Beginning Visual C++" (For Versions 6.0, 2005, or 2008)
They all have excellent examples on drawing (and maintaining) graphics primitives using MFC.
Too many goodies in that book to pass it up. At least if your serious about using OnDraw() in a view class.

You can save your previous draw and when you need to it you can show it.

Yes. Create a bitmap and draw your circles to that.
In your OnPaint routine blit from the bitmap to the screen.

I used "Teach Yourself Visual C++ 6 in 21 days" by "SAMS", its old, but still quite good, and exists in PDF format if you perfer that.

If you are a beginner in C++ my advice is to start with some C++ beginner books before you start looking at VC++ and Windows programming.

Why does everyone want everything for free ?
Like someone else said, learn C++ first, THEN MFC. My first book was 'teach yourself C++ in 24 hours' and while it didn't make me a professional programmer, it was a great *first* book.
